In seven days it's not.

Answer
In six days, it's the EVENING of Christmas day, so in seven days it's not Christmas, but Boxing Day. "Eve" is short for "evening".Hide Answer Show Answer

It was good but it was kind of simple but i guess i liked it
I don't get it.
Monkey, 'eve' is short for 'evening.' Therefore she is simply using an abbrieviation. (Sorry for the spelling^) I never would've gotton that one. Well done!
i have never heard anyone called an evening, 'eve'. hey wanta come to dinner tomorrow? when? in the eve. whatever.
well, jonny, when you put "eve" that way,i admit it does sound stunned.but in other ways, like the way i put it here, sounds fine.please stop critizing unless you have pondered about this thouroughly.thank you, others, who did not critizize.
To Jonny: Dictionary.com. Use it.
i agree with the answer, i have always wondered why Christmas's Eve is considered to be the evening before Christmas, BTW, this was an EASY teaser
Good but consider that there are Americans too. They've never used it like that and they think it's the 24th.
'Eve' always means the night before. Christmas Eve is the 24th. Halloween is a contraction of "All Hallowe's Eve" or the 'eve' before All Saints day. There was a song in the sixties that went "You don't believe we're on the eve of destruction." meaning it is just about to happen. Is there some country where Christmas Eve refers to the evening of the 25th?
you don't refer eve to ordinary evening only before holidays!!
I repeat: Dictionary.com, definition number 3: EVENING.
Mistress, I have pondered your teaser thouroughly, and I think that your phrasing is incorrect. Eve does not commonly refer to the evening, it refers to the time that preceeds an event in the case christmas day. Christmas day starts at 12.01am on the 25th of December. Christmas eve, which comes before christmas day starts at 12.01 am on the 24th of December. You can't have Christmas eve comin after Christmas day.
Christmas Eve is a holiday. So another answer is that it's not possible.
Say it once more, Bobbrt, they're still not getting it.
while "eve" might be a contraction of "evening" the evening that it refers to is the one preceding the event. it's like jimbo said.
it was a good try if you ignore the common use of the word "eve"
it was a good try if you ignore the common use of the word "eve"
it is a trick teaser! there are several meanings of eve. the trick is that its not the one you are used to hearing.
by the way i am reading this one on christmas "eve"
by the way i am reading this one on christmas "eve"
I liked it! It was fun!
Then explain to me the use of the phrase: "Christmas eve day." Describing the daylight time of the day known as Christmas Eve. Try harder...
Since "eve" wasn't capitalized, I think you could still say it meant "evening."
One answer that works without having to debate over interpretation of "eve", at a given time it could be Christmas eve (as in Dec 24) in 144 hrs ("6 days") in western U.S., and Christmas (Dec 25) in 144 hrs ("6 days") in eastern U.S. because of time zones.
