Also Woody Harrelson, one of the White Guys who Can't Jump, great show by the way, Marlon Wayans, the youngest of the 4 Wayans boys, and none other than Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe could be eating cake today.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, IRISH, my friend!

Today max318 a young male who says he is from Planet Earth is celebrating his birthday. He claims to be a turtle who loves to play video games, particularly Minecraft and Legend of Zelda. He also enjoys a variety of Braingle games. I can vouch for his ability to play in our Werewolf game.

You share your birthday with Loni Anderson, movie star and Terri Clark, a country singer from Canada, and two hockey players, Ryan Bertrand and Wayne Bridge. Also having shared your birthdate were Herb Brooks, who was the coach for the US Olympic Hockey Team that defeated the Russians in the 'Miracle on Ice' at Lake Placid. He died in August, 2003, at the age of 66. Kurt Russell played him in the 2004 Disney movie "Miracle." Also Race Car Driver, Colin McRae, a former Scottish rally driver who won the World Rally Championship in 1995, and was tragically killed at the age of 39 in a helicopter crash in 2007.

What happened in history on this, your birthdate?

August 5, 1991 Sergei Bubka of USSR sets pole vault record in Malmo Sweden
August 5, 2000 "Sir Alec Guinness, revered as one of Britain's most versatile actors, dies at 86."

I wonder what will happen in the next 100 years? Well we here at Braingle are hoping max318 will have many more Happy Birthdays with lots of family and friends, presents and good times. Oh yes, also, some cake would be nice.

Thank you very much, Vlerma! I love the work you do on these and must say I was looking forward to one this year. Please do keep up the great work. Also, I will send my own happy birthday to SaraGrace. I hope it's a good one. [I can still remember when a fellow student in my class had not only the same birthday but on the same year, too! I half wanted to ask in which hospital.]

Thank you for your appreciation LR. I enjoy attempting to greet all on their OWN birthdays. I am just a bit concerned however, that by sending out wishes as I am doing, other members have stopped joining in to wish their friends a "HB".

I started this because my son's big day was in July and he was always so discouraged during school because everyone else got to pass out cupcakes for their "BD". It was sad for a little boy to not be able to have that special party at school like his buddies. Secondly, my youngest daughter is a cake decorator and she enjoys the smiles she puts on people's faces.

I just didn't want a Braingle member to not be wished good fortune on their special day. Some days I may get slower than I should, but I am just hoping that I am not leaving anyone out. I also hope everyone is enjoying what I have been doing. I just don't want people thinking I took over the Birthday Box. Please people feel free to extend your wishes in this box and if I should forget someone or miss someone, please let me know so I can correct my list.

Babies are born every day but some of us can go through life never knowing anyone who shared our birthday. I know of two members here on Braingle who is a twin, mathmanic and Greenapples. I would be interested to see how many twins who do post on here.

AgathaPerch, who likes Sherlock Holmes and Watson and cyborgs is celebrating his birthday today. He and I are neighbors as he lives in Iowa and I live in Nebraska. I do apologize for running a bit late on this birthday wish today as I did miss his name when I was gathering the August list. But August 29th is his big day so Braingleland lets all wish AgathaPerch a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Celebrities who also claim August 29th as their birthdate are: Lucas Cruikshank who gained internet fame for his fictional character, Fred Figglehorn, on YouTube. His channel was the first in history to have over one million subscribers. Lucas is also from Nebraska. Liam Payne, singer who gained fame with the highly successful British boy band, One Direction. Lea Michele best known for her role in the musical comedy Glee. John McCain, 2008 Republican Presidential nominee who ran against President Barack Obama in the 2008 election, but lost by a fairly large margin.

August 29th was also the Birthdates of the following persons who have passed: Charles F. Kettering Founder of the Delco automotive electronics company and the head of research at General Motors. He gave cars the first electrical starter and leaded gas. Dinah Washington R&B and blues singer and pianist who performed with jazz greats Count Basie and Duke Ellington. Isabel Sanford who played the longsuffering wife Louise Jefferson on The Jeffersons. She also appeared in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air with Will Smith. Ingrid Bergman who was immortalized when she appeared in Casablanca with legendary actor, Humphrey Bogart. RIP

On this date, August 29, in history:

1919 Prince Edward Island removes ban on automobiles after several years of no cars
1922 Turkish forces set fire to Smyrna, in Asia Minor.
1935 Queen Astrid of Belgium is killed in car accident in Switzerland
1944 15,000 American troops liberating Paris march down Champs Elysees
1958 United States Air Force Academy opens in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
1964 Walt Disney's ""Mary Poppins"" released
1971 Hank Aaron becomes the first player in baseball's National League to drive in 100+ runs in 11 seasons
1987 Number one hit on UK music charts - Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up
1990 Saddam Hussein declares America can't beat Iraq
2005 Hurricane Katrina devastates much of the U.S. Gulf Coast from Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle, killing more than 1,836 and causing over $115 billion in damage.

So, even though I have been slow at getting this out today, I still want you to know we do hope you have had a Happy Birthday with lots of friends, family and loved ones and oodles and oodles of cake. Hugs to you AgathaPerch.

Peter is celebrating his birthday, today, August 30, 2014. The following list are some celebrities who are also celebrating their birthdays today.

Warren Buffett Stock market genius
Cameron Diaz modeled for Levi's and Calvin Klein gained stardom for her roles in Charlie's Angels
Peggy Lipton Played undercover cop and flower child Julie Barnes on The Mod Squad
Michael Grant Terry Best known for his role as Wendell Bray on the long-running Fox drama, Bones

Sylvia Earle Award-winning oceanographer and lecturer who became a National Geographic explorer-in-residence in 1998. She is also considered an expert on the impact of oil spills and has been called upon to lead several research teams during various spills. In 1998, Time Magazine named her its first Hero for the Planet.

Jean Claude Killy French alpine skier who won three Gold medals at the 1968 Olympics, for the Downhill, Slalom, and Giant Slalom events.
Michael Chiklis Best known as Detective Vic Mackey on FX's The Shield and Commissioner Tony Scali on ABC's The Commish.

The celebrities who have passed that shared this birthdate:

Ted Williams Red Sox Baseball player; author Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley who wrote the Gothic novel, Frankenstein; Shirley Booth who starred in "Come Back, Little Sheba" and was TV's Hazel; Fred MacMurray, famous as the dad in "My Three Sons"; John Phillips the guitarist, singer, and songwriter who fronted the folk band The Mamas & the Papas; and last but not least, Kitty Wells, Queen of Country Music probably best known for her recording of "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels". She had three children with Johnnie Wright, to whom she was married to for eighty-seven years. YES FOLKS I SAID 87 YEARS. but after some investigation, since she got married at 18, was born in 1919 and died in 2012, if her husband was still alive, I believe my math sums up to her being married for 75 or 76 years which is still quite a spell.

Here is a century of interesting things that happened on this date in history:

1913 US Navy tests Sperry gyroscopic stabilizer (automatic pilot)
1922 "Tiger Rag", still a familiar ragtime tune, is recorded by the New Orleans Rhythm Kings.
1939 NY Yankee Atley Donald pitches a baseball a record 94.7 mph (152 kph)
1941 Siege of Leningrad by Nazi troops began during WW II
1956 Lake Pontchartrain Causeway opens.
1967 The US Senate confirms Thurgood Marshall as the first black US Supreme Court Justice.
1976 Tom Brokaw becomes news anchor of the Today Show
1987 Ben Johnson of Canada runs 100 m in world record 9.83 second
1997 "The world learns of the Paris car crash that killed England's Princess Diana, her husband and Harrod's owner Dodi Fayed, and their driver."
2009 Israeli jets bomb a building in the Gaza Strip which the military says hides a tunnel that Palestinian militants could use to infiltrate Israel.

So Peter, Braingleland takes this way of wishing you a Very Happy Birthday and hoping that you celebrate with family, friends and loved ones. May your wishes come true and make sure to eat plenty of cake.
