I should have tried to attend, it would have been a more active day than I had. Blue we could have met there and I would have pushed you around too! Really.

You think the the Secret Service would allow the two of us in. By the time we would have got clearance, the funeral would have been over.

Anthony Bourdain, a gifted storyteller and writer who took CNN viewers around the world, has died. He was 61.

CNN confirmed Bourdain's death on Friday and said the cause of death was suicide.
It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain. His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller. His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time.

Tab Hunter passed away on Sunday, July 8 in Santa Barbara, California just a few days shy of his 87th birthday. TCM did not say what he died of, but at 87, he had a good long life.

I don't remember seeing any story about his passing, but I was looking up articles on TCM (my favorite movie site) and saw that on July 20th they will have several of his movies. I crossed my fingers as I read the list, the one I want to see is not there, "Damn Yankees". It is one of only about 5 musicals I don't mind seeing and it's been a while.

Senator John McCain died at 81.

From the N. Y. Times:

John S. McCain, the proud naval aviator who climbed from depths of despair as a prisoner of war in Vietnam to pinnacles of power as a Republican congressman and senator from Arizona and a two-time contender for the presidency, died on Saturday at his home in Arizona. He was 81.

According to a statement from his office, Mr. McCain died at 4:28 p.m. local time. He had suffered from a malignant brain tumor, called a glioblastoma, for which he had been treated periodically with radiation and chemotherapy since its discovery in 2017.

On Friday October 26th, my wife of 40 years died from Ovarian Cancer. She was my life. No need to send anything to me, that is not why I am posting this. For you ladies out there, if I can hope for anything from you, get your pap smears every year... without fail. My wife did not think they were important, but if she had them done, she may still be here. She had Level 4 cancer, and it was doing damage quickly. Best time to catch cancer is at level 1. Please do it! That is the best way to can honor my wife, whom I know none of you know; but does that point matter?

I will be away from Braingle for a while... I suspect you will understand why.

I was so sad to hear about Stan Lee today. I was never a comic book fan, but the influence those comics had on films and media is huge. Stan made cameos in so many movies: Spiderman, X-men, Avengers... going to be hard in the future when he isn't there anymore.

It's a disease, not a punch line
