Lorenzo Charles. He made one of the greatest plays in college basketball history, winning his team a national championship.
He was still fairly young, only 48 or 49.

Singer Amy Winehouse died today, no word on the cause but she had some drug and alcohol problems, she was 27.

It's not what you know, it's what people think you know.

Sad.

Take all sorrow out of life and you take away all richness, and depth, and tenderness. The capacity of sorrow belongs to our grandeur. It is the furnace that melts hearts together in love.

I just read about Amy Winehouse's death, and was going to post it in here, but I guess you guys got in first.
It's very sad. So young and so much talent. RIP.

I heard that one of the Backstreet Boys died the other day. Could anyone confirm that assumption?

I don't think so... I think it's just a rumour... like the rumour of Hugh Hefner's death.

Not today, but Jack Layton died. Poor NDP. They're nothing without Layton, in my opinion.

Well, I wasn't going to comment, but I must note that this topic is titled "People Died Today". So no yoghurt allowed. Unless it's Soylent yoghurt.

Why didn't the Libertarian cross the road?

Thank you Caberet. Some 3000 died 10 years ago today, most of them in front of our eyes, world wide.
We cannot possibly forget.

he will be hooked up to satellite, so we can tweet him the best wishes till the batteries go. maybe in computer heaven batteries last forever.

i remember my AppleII. was in the late 70's, of course, and some hot stuff, then.

someone commented how unusual it was to interrupt regular broadcasting to report the death of a non political, non civil servant, but of all the people who influenced the world, he was the one to do that for.

i wish his family well.
