What made you smile today? #11

Oh Blue, we are all so glad you have been here to share these 14 years. Most people would not have been. And with an experience like you had, I am sure you sure you are aware that God has something else He wants you to do here on earth. After receiving the Last Rites, having my heart restarted two times and a couple more things I always wake up with this, "Ok Lord. I'm listening. Tell me or show me what I am to do now and guide my mind and hands to do as You wish."

I'm not saying for everyone to look at continued life in this manner, but from experience I do know what it is like to get that second wind. Glad to have you among us, Blue. May we share another 14 years on this earth.

I smiled today because we got the call saying that the date and time of arrival has been confirmed. My son and his family, one grandson of whom I have never held, is coming home, for good this month... I am smiling through tears just typing this...

I wish I could sleep... but my mind starts to wander, and well, basically, one sheep, two sheep, cow, turtle, duck, Ol McDonald had a farm... HEEEY Macarena!!!

I've been smiling all week! Just spent six days as a camp counselor at High Sierra Scholarship Camp. Had some great 8th grade girls in my cabin, enjoyed the beautiful weather, spent time learning about God, played some incredibly weird but fun games...

Home for a few days now before taking off to visit relatives in Oregon.

Isn't it wonderful how the elation of just living that young people, plus a retreat situation in all of God's beauty can somehow refresh our mundane lives and give us a push start back into the marvelous stream of life? So happy for your experience whovi, and now go enjoy the relatives in Oregon. I loved Oregon with all the trees and friendly people. When I was in high school our band was nominated the Queen's Band for the Rose Festival that Portland put on. What a great 10 days we had there. And of course I did have relatives who lived out there. The only vacation my folks and I ever took found us with our relatives out there, but that was 65 years ago so suppose much has changed.

Hope everyone is having a blessed Sunday. It is extremely hot here in Nebraska and all the younger folks are going crazy with the firecrackers that went on sale yesterday. My poor little dog, Daisy May, if she doesn't shake herself to death, will be very happy when the racket is over. She and I don't do the booming kind very well, and I have to stay away from the smoking kind. I enjoy the big displays our town puts on because I can stay away from the smoke and when it is done, all the booming will be over for another year. Early Happy 4th, all.

Today, I sent official notification to my two major General contractors that I am hanging up my tools and will be giving up Contracting, having been in business since 1979, with contracting full time since 2006.

Over the next week, I will send letters to most of my clients... got a few hundred letters to prepare now.

My knees have been giving me pain and it happens mostly after crawling under houses or through attics... so it is time to stop this kind of work and go back to doing something less physical. My wife and I are so close to retiring that this move really makes me happy... it will probably also take away my stress because I don't have to work late in the evenings working on bids as well.

Smiling ear to ear right now

Congratulations on retiring from construction, Randy!

What made me smile is an early Christmas present from my son - a 48" big screen Smart TV!!! I absolutely love it! Now, it's time to go and watch it!

Glad that is making you happy... let me think, my weekend since I stopped working is about 67 days now. I can not call it retirement, but so far, going pretty good. Can still smile about our situation!
