A few weeks late with my announcement, but we now have a new grandson. Landan was born on Saturday, June 18th at around 4 am. Daughter was admitted Friday at around 1 pm, so it was a long and very difficult delivery - even with an epidural and lots of oxygen. Baby heart-rate kept going up and down and almost turned into an emergency C-section several times. Daughter's blood pressure kept going way too low which almost caused her to pass out and she developed a fever which the baby was born with as well. Both daddy and I were with her the entire time and, I have to admit, there were several times that I was really worried. All turned out well, with fevers gone and both doing great by that afternoon.

That said, our "little" grandson weighed in at 9 lbs 14 oz and 22 inches long! Talk about long and lean! He is not quite three weeks old and now weighs 10 lbs 3 oz. Obviously, a lot of the baby clothes we bought before hand in newborn sizes do not fit!

Welcome to the wonderful world of being a grandma. I know you will be a shoo-in at it. Give Momma a hug for me and tell her I said, "Well done!" I know from experience how hard it is for grandmas to watch our babies struggle while birthing those "little ones" but God gives us the strength we need and the babies are such miracles. As I have seen so many say, "Now you will discover the real meaning of love." Congratulations to the entire family. BTW, I love the name. Hugs.

Thank you to our heroes for our freedom. Happy 4th of July Americans. Hope you are celebrating to the hilt, but safely. Also want to give a LATE shout out to our Canadian friends who just celebrated Canada Day. And am saying prayers for our countries as we go about our summer up north here and for those down south who are suffering with the thrones of Winter. Hugs to all.

I love hearing about people walking into walls and poles playing that game... walking off cliffs and into cars should be a wake up call to tone down playing it though!

I can't imagine being so engrossed that you don't pay attention to what is going on around you or where you are going!

It's been really hot here but managed to drop down into the high 90's from a long run of triple digits. This should make me happy but we have two fires going on - one coming from one direction and another from the other direction. Skies are overcast and ash is falling everywhere. Pool has a layer of ash on top of the water and cars covered with it. You can actually see the particles fall when you are outside. Health warnings to stay inside as much as possible, so can't open windows at night to let the cooler air in and turn off the AC for a few hours. Hopefully the fires will be out soon...

It's fairly mild here.

But while we're not getting ash from fires to the north and south of us, it is really hazy and the air quality is terrible.
