Thanks Randy. It's healing now that the wood is out. Leave it to me to find a way to get hurt on a hall coat tree!

Being fired.

I knew it was only temporary and I definitely wanted a better job but ... it's still annoying. That job was pretty whack. Back to the toxic horror that is the job search.

Having a strange woman knock on the door after 10 pm and saying her name is Linda and that we do not know her and she does not know us. I asked her what she needed/wanted and she would not tell me unless I opened the door! Really? At night? No way. After several attempts to get me to open the door so she could tell me what she wanted or what was wrong, she finally left after realizing there was no way I was going to open that door. Sgt slept through it all but it sure put me on edge the rest of the night since I'm a night owl and stay up really late by myself. Called local police and filed a phone report and they did drive-by a few times that night. Strange because we live in a nice residential area.

One can never be too careful - your neighborhood can be the very best but that still doesn't keep the creepers out. Maybe I watch too many crime shows on TV, but it seems to me some of these individuals are simply spotting something on TV and thinking, "Oh that looks like fun - let's play that game tonight." And maybe it was someone who was just trying to play an April Fool's Prank. Get that hall coat tree out and beat the cobs out of "Linda". Just kidding, sort of. Am glad you were so wise. I think I would visit with my neighbors and see if anyone else had Linda at their door.

Just kidding, sort of - at our place we have a complete bag of golf clubs sitting behind doors, or around the corner, etc. Of course we live right on the main drag where we can watch the obvious walk by. Earlier this year we had a shooting three blocks from us. The new Runza was being built with some heavy equipment setting around. Darkness, etc and we were sure we saw someone crawl into one of the cabs of one of their big fork lifts. Police all over the place, but the guy gave them the slip and they didn't catch up with him for about three weeks. Even in small town America dumb and stupid think they know it all. Glad you are ok, Froggy.

How strange, froggy!
I wouldn't have opened the door either. And I would have stayed up all night, listening and peering through the curtains.

As my good old dad used to say, just because there is a knock on the door or the phone rings, doesn't mean you have to answer it.
Sometimes people I know come to my door, knocking, but I'm not up for a visit so I pretend I'm not home.
Same when the phone rings. If I don't feel like talking, I don't answer it.

Glad you did what you did froggy!

Yep, I would have been sitting up all night with my .38 revolver in my lap. Glad it turned out ok.

And Roger, so sorry to hear your news. I hope it all works out... usually when one door closes, another opens, so hopefully it leads to something better.

I wonder what that was about, Froggy.

Thanks, Pal.

Ugh, my husband lost his job today, too.

Best of luck to you LR, it's tough out there, but things do eventually turn up. In a strange twist, my husband got fired on a day he had already scheduled an interview somewhere else, so hopefully that one will come through.

Good luck looking for new jobs..as Paladin says...when one door closes, another opens. Stay positive. Maybe MUCH better things are on the cards for both you LR and whoviandeb's husband.

Sorry to hear about the job situations LR and whovian.

I'm frowning today because I spent 20 minutes fixing something only to have it break again with the first use. UGH.

Thanks. He's actually not too upset by it. The company that treated its employees terribly - and he was working six days a week, which was just too much. What bugs him is the circumstances around it - another employee (who quit the day before) was the cause of the trouble that got my husband fired. Oh well - time to move forward!

I have a fever and a headache. I just had a nosebleed. I'm sure it will pass, but we're taking State Tests on Tuesday-Thursday.

Ooooooh! Nice!

Sorry to hear of everyone's job searches... being self employed if I get fired its going to mean retirement... or at least a move to being a greeter at Walmart! Good luck all

The fact that we don't have efficient robots delivering snail mail yet. We need to get on this.

I am so angry and frustrated. I have worked three hours getting a birthday wish ready for MadAde. I had it all ready, but wanted to put a daily quote on the end of it as Ade always gets in the last word. I went to attach it to my Braingle work and suddenly the screen flipped and it was all wiped out. GRRRRRR~this has happened more than once lately and it is so upsetting! Sorry Ade, I will try again this afternoon. Maybe I need a nap!

My computer crashed with a 7000+ word report on it. Maybe I could regress back into the Dark Ages. At least they didn't lose data that often.
