So, how random is wondering where I have been for the last 3 weeks? At least one of you knows, the others may be interested, but not know. Others may not be interested. Having said that, 9/12/17 I had double bypass heart surgery, after having been in and out of the hospital since 8/31. I am home as of yesterday, sore as crap, but doing well. Already doing a mile a day, taking highest pain meds only at bedtime and right after getting up. Doing well enough that today's home health care nurse visit says I might not need PT or OT, only Cardiac Care Therapy. Now back to your regularly scheduled discussions.

I wish I could sleep... but my mind starts to wander, and well, basically, one sheep, two sheep, cow, turtle, duck, Ol McDonald had a farm... HEEEY Macarena!!!

Fishmed... I do hope your recovery continues!

You know the problem with following people on Braingle is that we seem to lose people for weeks & months at a time for several reasons... some seem to lose interest. As hard as it may seem, I wish our family members would just let us know they are going through a situation. Most of us do not know the real person, just the name and picture they give us... but these names and images are a part of our lives.

My dad had a 5 valve bypass surgery in 83'. I was 28 at the time and didn't quite understand the whole thing. While recovering, he had to blow into this little thing that had three balls...each one needed more pressure to rise. We thought it was a joke... he did it, and the first ball went up about a 1/3 of the way. Second ball just bounced a bit. After he set it down, I picked it up and blew in it and all three went to the top.

I realized my dad was in a serious condition.

He recovered and lived 13 more years until he was 75. So, take care of yourself! Enjoy life. I am sure the world of medical treatments have progressed a lot in 20 years.

You are in that world of caring...you are a part of most of our lives. We do care about you...even though I was never successful of getting through all the levels of your game!

It is amazing the things that they have been able to do to have made this sugery such a success. I, too, have a breather, but this one requires inhales only and has two meters, one you have keep in between to markers while allowing the other one to rise as high as possible. If you inhale to quickly the 1st is outside parameters and you are doing it wrong. It's to help prevent post surgical pneumonia. As I said, though, the stuff they did was amazing. Technology is great. And I disappeared from here in that I did not really have my phone or computer access for about 20 days.

As I'm sure you know, I followed you and your surgery throughout the entire process. I'm so happy to see you back because you were missed! I didn't say anything since I didn't know if you wanted the site to be aware of the situation. That said, I did send Jake a personal message letting him know right away.

Once again, I'm so happy to have my "mentor" back on site. You are a dear friend to so many people here at Braingle as well as in real life.

Thank you. And to add fun to the mix, we got a call at 330 yesterday morning that my mother was rushing to UofI Chicago Hospital as her name finally came up, after 5 years, for a new kidney. Surgery lasted 5+ hours, but this morning she's already sitting up in a chair, drinking water, brushing her teeth, with the goal of walking to the nurses station this afternoon and getting out of ICU before tomorrow. Amazing what 24 hours can do.
