When I tried looking up the pronunciations of the Undertale characters' names, I learned that apparently, it's entirely subjective, and everyone has different pronunciations. So, I was wondering, how do you pronounce the names of the characters in Undertale?

Here's mine, of the main characters:

Flowey: like flower, but with "ee" sound in place of "er"

Toriel: TORE-ee-el.

Sans: like "sand"

Papyrus: like the word "papyrus" meaning paper.

Undyne: the y is pronounced like "eye" and the e is silent, and the second (and last) syllable is stressed.

Alphys: AL-feez

Mettaton: MET-tuh-tawn, pronounced quickly

Asgore: AZ-gore

Asriel: AZ-ree-el

Frisk: rhymes with "disk"

Chara: Like "character"

If you offer me a cookie, I'm going to ask for a glass of milk. When you give me the milk, I'll probably spill it everywhere.

Also, technically, I don't suppose this has to be for Undertale players only (I am not actually). I guess anyone who knows the names and has some basic knowledge of the game can post here.

I've only heard Alphys to be pronounced differently

Al-feez & Al-fis

I believe the pronunciation of other names, like Sans, Undyne, and Papyrus, are also debatable.

Almost all names are debatable.

"Chara" is pronounced like the first two syllables of "character," for... reasons. I believe that's the most debatable one.

I say Toriel with "Tore" instead of "Tour," and stress the Un part of Undyne.

Oh! Then I guess I'll pronounce it like that from now on

That's kind of what I meant, but I forgot that the word "tore" existed, and "tour" was the next best option

Thanks Squee! I will edit my list accordingly!

Well, Chara is hotly debated, so don't take my word for it
