The Werewolf Game
Game #2878: Werewolves of Miller's Hollow #1
This private game is moderated by PianistChris. Please read the rules and contact the moderator with any questions or concerns about this game.
This game finished in 8 rounds.
After the previous day, the villagers quietened and had the most peaceful sleep they've had in a long while - but that was to end quite soon. Late at night, koin_era345 was out, heading to a lovers house, and on that way, just as the others, he was found by ferocious monsters. They stalked him as he walked, and before reaching his lovers home, he was assaulted and brutally gorged and cut still his beating heart came to an end.
The villagers awoke in the morning to find koin_era345 laying dead on the floor. The dispair was great, but more so for koin_era345's lover, who was shortly thrown into a depressive state, and decided that during this voting round he would stay alone, and away.
Ardi was shot - He was Human.
koin_era345 was eaten - He was one of the lovers. (Human)
The second lover can not vote this round due to depression.
The werewolves seems to have the upperhand for now!

Interesting move, eating koin...one of the quieter ones, regarding last round. I hate being sick - I can't think right now, so I'll join in whatever discussion there is in the morning.
If for some reason that sounds suspicious to you, okay, fine. Sorry. (I've been suspected for saying stuff like that before.)

I've given it some thought yesterday. Although I have suspicions about kitty and Sky, I'm not too sure about them. Maybe we can keep observing and look at a kitty/Sky pairing. Smithy and Sky are our only experienced players here, so it would be in our best interests to keep both.
I suggest that everyone vote for CG. She accepted JJ's flawed logic, probably as a quick way to get Smithy shot. Her level of activity in this game is making me wonder if she's faking inactivity, then letting the nights finish quickly. It's simple, really: get on Braingle every hour, but not logged in except at strategic moments (e.g. when JJ gives her an opportunity to get Smithy shot or when I say I suspect her for being inactive.) I've done that before myself.
Edit: Just remembered that we're not allowed to reveal our identities. Sorry.

What are your justifications, cat? Just a bunch of names isn't very helpful, to be honest.

Is that your big contribution, cat? Again, some discussion would be nice. The only reason you are voting for me is because I had the audacity to vote for you in round 1, your votes for me in every single round because of that, without any explanation or justification, are unhelpful.
In a game like this, with no strong suspects, it's normally the case that there are one or two inactive/quiet wolves, so I'm inclined to go along with a CG vote, especially if as JQ says this is not her normal style, and because of her blind acceptance of JJ's advice. Tyanahg too has been pretty quiet and when posted has refrained from really committing to anything in particular so could also be a good candidate, though again this could just be a new player finding their feet. Cat too would come under this category but that is standard.

i dunno what to do. catman survived till round 4 to give their verdict. it was someone's opinion in the previous rounds that catman wont survive till then. i know this doesn't make sense at all, but maybe catman survived coz they were wolf? and koin sure was an interesting eat. they may not be the best, but still, they are one of the better players i have played with.

Wow.I Knew that ardi wasent a wolf. oh well. My suspiions on sky are still there. You asked me, if you were a wolf, how would you benefit by mediating, and my answer is this: You would seem like a nice guy. That way, you wouldn't be suspected as a wolf.

He didn't exactly help himself, not only with his posts, but with his pointless revenge vote for me which meant I had to keep my vote on him, and others could not switch away without condemning me.
Sky is the other vote I could back this round, although I'm not sure what to make of him saving me over ardi at the end of last round.

Where do I start?

First of all, as a wolf, I would gain nothing from coming in between a human argument, but gain a lot from letting it play out. Especially when they suspect each other. So trying to mediate would actually be detrimental to my cause, not help it. You said yourself last round "the guilty ones just go with the flow" - so you are hugely contradicting yourself here. In this case, it seems you are concocting little tit-bits of evidence that aren't really there. Especially when you are contradicting yourself.
Also poofi, it's a very unfortunate coincidence that the only two players you have voted for have subsequently been eaten. You vote melody, she is eaten that night, then you vote koin and he is eaten that night. I don't see why the wolves would go to an effort to frame you, in fact, I haven't seen anyone mention you as a suspect at all (meaning that if the wolves were framing you they would be naming you as a suspect). Which is why this is quite interesting to note. You have moved to the top of my list.
JQ - it's a shame you have let slip that you were koin's lover (I didn't see you write this explicitly, but I got the idea from your edit) but something can be gleaned from it. If you were a wolf, it would be unlikely for you to eat your lover, therefore inflicting a voting embargo upon yourself. That's not very clever. But this is assuming that the wolves are talking to each other. If they are not, he would not have communicated this to his fellow wolves. So I'm on the fence at the moment with JQ. I looked through your last game, and you're a little more loquacious in this game and a bit more confident with suspects. You were human in that game, and this leads me to believe that your role in this game is not human. So leaning wolf on you right now, but only very slightly.
Kitty - I fear of throwing the term around, so I will use a synonym. You were overly-contrary to my views last round, for little reason. And your retaliation vote (yes I still see it that way) is very wolfish. But I need to think more on this one. It might just be the way you play or if you're a bit sensitive if you get accused of anything.
Smithy - Oh Smithy... I don't really know what to say about you. I feel you're playing me for a fool and I feel pretty uneasy about it. You're usually so prolific and astute as a human. But your drive just doesn't seem there. I can't quite put my finger on it. Like you're just going through the motions rather than actually feeling it. This however, is far from evidence, so I would need something more concrete for a Smithy vote (but he would be unlikely to give me anything to go on).
Cat - Not feeling wolfish really. I'm thinking he might still be in the game because of his persistent Smithy vote. If Smithy ate him, I'm sure we would be on his case. Smithy would know to keep those suspicious of him in the game, so as not to draw suspicion to himself.
Still thinking, back soon.

Skybet's thoughts on poofi are interesting...I hadn't noticed that his votes got eaten. Definitely seems a little off. I looked at how many games he's played, because voting for the same people night and day seems like something an inexperienced player would do. He's played 12 games, so that doesn't really prove anything, new or not. I've played about the same amount, but I still consider myself pretty new.
Anyway, cat's post doesn't seem too helpful. A little explanation on why those people seem wolfish would be nice. Doesn't necessarily sound wolfish, just unhelpful.
I think out of our 3 wolves, one is one of the ringleaders of this game, pointing fingers, suggesting the next votes, etc., one or two are quieter ones, not really posting that much, a suspicion every once in a while, and possibly one is one of the people who say a lot but not very much helpful stuff. So, now I'm really feeling Sky as human. I'm not sure about Smithy, JQ, buu. I really hope we get a wolf this round, because we might not be doomed, but we'll definitely be close.

I think you're right kitty, about the roles of the wolves. Which is what makes these types of games particularly hard. When the wolves are quiet... They are hard to spot.
Poofi seems the best shot to me currently.... If it's wrong, it's time for us humans to hang up our boots....

Why would poofi vote for who he wanted to eat that night, or the other way round? As a tactic it would make no sense. To me this link is either a coincidence (which may or may not involve poofi as a wolf either way) or a frame. I had forgotten that outside discussion was allowed, meaning the wolves could be discussing their night kills, making the latter option more feasible - and when there is a framing set up, the first person to happen to notice it is often the perpetrator.
Smithy wrote:
I knew you were going to say that "He who smelt it, dealt it". Well I retort with "Whoever said the rhyme did the crime"
It would be a poor tactic, but I'm putting that down to inexperience/juvenility. Obviously I don't know how young poofi is - but the gender icon is sub 18 years old. But let me put it this way - I'm not a wolf, and I brought it up first - if the wolves were trying to frame, then it wouldn't be successful if they just sat around and waited for someone to bring it up, they would most likely point it out themselves.
EDIT: it cut off some of my post for some reason

It wouldn't even be so much of a "poor tactic" as just not even a tactic, there is no conceivable benefit or reason for doing it, it would literally be just him needlessly dropping us clues. I think it's pretty unlikely that it's some intentional method or plot from poofi. (I'm not saying he couldn't be a wolf, though, as this could just be a coincidence.)
And you yourself are agreeing with my reasoning that in the event of a frame "he who smelt it, dealt it".

@smithy: i know that doesnt make him any more wolf or less wolf. i just mentioned something that caught my eye and i didnt have anything else to post at the moment. and i still cant get reads on anyone right now. CG seems to be a sensible vote, but i cant say anything else :/ sorry if i am being totally useless as well.
i agree with kitty cat about at least one wolf being a more silent observer.

Sky's reasoning with poofi made sense to me. I'll keep reading, but maybe I'll change to poofi instead of CG next round. Since I'm not too familiar with poofi, however, I'm still more suspicious about CG than poofi at the moment. We don't want to lose Sky if he's a human, so I'd prefer a poofi vote over a Sky vote.
About myself, I'm reverting to an earlier playing style. There was a while when I played like this. It was after I came back but before I met anyone here (except koin IIRC). I would analyse a lot, look at each player and their posts carefully, then come to a conclusion. Typically, someone will then accuse me of being a wolf/boss because I'm analysing a lot. As I moved on to games with fewer inactives and more skilled players, my style gradually morphed into what it is now. I'm trying to get back to my old style and be a more useful human.

Again, why would poofi do it? If this question cannot be answered then the whole theory falls apart.
On the contrary, Smithy, it could be a tactic to point away from you, as you would assume a frame as the link is so obvious. But since no wolf brought it up, it is unlikely to be a frame. Those are my thoughts anyway, however convoluted.

I'm not really buying that either - it doesn't clear him or make him less suspicious to any degree. Like I said he may still be a wolf, but if he is I doubt this is any sort of intentional scheme.
So, you're supporting a CG vote because she isn't very active so she may or may not be a wolf... Is this much more convincing? Is there something else I'm missing?

It's a reasonable conclusion (and indeed one that most seem to agree on) that we probably have one or two wolves who are "laying low", she would fit into that category, one of the only contributions she did make was to blindly agree with Putz's logic, surely she should have known better if she was genuinely trying to reason who was who so perhaps was just trying to push through an easy human kill which she could then wash her hands of by assigning it to the gravitas of a known human's thoughts. I never said I was confident but it's a decent shot.
I have no reason to think poofi is human or wolf either way, but I just don't see this night-day link being some sort of tactic he'd actively use. Although poofi's posts have been scarce, they are at least more useful when they do appear.
I'll admit I'm a little lost in this game, I usually work on clinical logic and reasoning so when we have a game with so much bad reasoning being thrown around like there was in the first three rounds it throws my radar off.

It is fairly compelling. The thing that's holding me back, is that it was mentioned last round and it seems a clear group of 3 players (JQ, buu and Smithy) have seemed quite keen on it. Because 3 is the magic number in this game, I find myself skeptical of it... I'm perhaps just being a little paranoid, but I'm noticing a few coincidences in this game, most are mutually exclusive though, so it seems most are just that - a coincidence.
EDIT: Also looking at JQ's first post of the round, it all just sounds totally contrived. And Har (no matter how disconnected) last game tried to pull the "I'm trying to improve my game" mumbo jumbo... I didn't buy it for a second. If you're playing different it's for a reason, and JQ has pretty much admitted that he is in his later post. But I'm programmed to be cynical in this game, probably to the detriment of my judgement.

Yeah this game has gotten very interesting the last couple of rounds, though I wish I had a little more understanding of what was going on. (And didn't have Cat mindlessly putting a vote on me each round which puts me under pressure.)
So, in your opinion, why did poofi end up voting the same way in both day and night? I assume the presumption in this theory is that he directed his wolves, or they plotted together, for this to happen, so what was the aim?

The thought that actually went through my mind is this:
"I want to shoot this person" - votes for them - they don't get shot.
"Ok I will eat them then" - yum yum yum.
And since this original thought, it has spun into something else. It was a very mundane thought, if I'm honest, and admit ashamedly...
I feel most of all that you are playing me Smithy... I don't want to be your puppet.... But your logic is undeniable....

In both round 1 and 3 he didn't really try to get his vote shot, round 1 was just an SPV and round 3 he didn't even comment on koin so not sure why he voted for him, so it doesn't look he wanted them gone at any cost.
Hoping koin's message will steer us towards the light.

Hey guys. Hope you're all doing well. There's a possibility sky is a wolf, though I doubt it. KEEP YOUR EYES ON SMITHY. Dont hesitate to accuse him if you have evidence, but for gods sake get some evidence first. JQ and kitty are wild cards. I feel like cg will flip human if she is shot. I wish you the best of luck. Dont hesitate to accuse him if you have evidence, but for gods sake get some evidence first. JQ and kitty are wild cards. I feel like cg will flip human if she is shot. I wish you the best of luck. Tell catmandon and cg to stop doing stupid stuff.
Yours truly,
Koin
Beaches and Fire, tis all I need right now!
Well that didn't help at all.

Wow. thanks, you just made me realize that the people that i was voting for were eaten that night. I seriously didn't know that.
And @Smithy: it did help. Just cause someone makes everyone suspicious of you doesn't mean that you have the right that they didn't help. the only person that they didn't help is you. Which is why i am not saying that Skybet isn't helping. For all you guys know, i could be a wolf (even though im not).

Aside from the fact that I was clearly only making a light-hearted comment about how koin appears just as lost as we are, it would be perfectly justified to say that a post that might lead to suspicion on a human was "unhelpful" for the humans.
EDIT: Why the self vote, poofi? Now that seems... unhelpful.

Oh my goodness JQ. -_- Everyone accepts "failed" logic at some time or another. Besides, I could see where JJ was going with it, even if you couldn't. Everyone thinks differently on these types of things. You can't justify using that against me to get me shot.
AND, there are plenty of people in this game who are less active than me.
Sarcastic people with large vocabularies are my favorite.

Thanks for that koin.
I have the same fear of a CG shooting, I just don't have faith in it. I'm not sure which way to turn now though, because I'm sure I want to switch from poofi. No wolves I've known tend to be self-destructive...

CG voted poofi without explaining why or even mentioning it. To me, assuming poofi is more likely human than wolf, this seems like another attempt to pass through an easy human shooting without sticking her neck out too much.
I am not sure she is a wolf, but I'm pretty sure she's the best option this round.

Ok CG.
I hope I don't regret this.

Even if we're wrong we get one more round to try to salvage something...
Like I said though, if she turns human I don't want anyone turning it against me (or buu), if you look at what's happened you cannot deny that she's earned enough suspicion to get shot, whatever her role turns out to be.

I guess a wolf wouldn't be as persistent on a human shot. It's too risky.

I'll join the vote on CG, just to confirm it and in case someone comes on and votes for poofi.
Voting in this round continued as normal, with some villagers interacting more than in the last few rounds. As the voting ended, christiangrl was chosen to be shot. As they decided, christiangrl quickly darted away from the villagers, and ran with utmost speed to gain as much distance as possible from the villagers, but it was too late - the silver bullet curved its way into her scalp.
She writhed in pain as she fell on her knees and screamed. Slowly, her body cracked and bones jutted out of place; hair grew out of her arms, legs and face, and she fell to the floor, dead - stuck between the transformation between a human and werewolf. The villagers looked on in shock, and shortly after, burned her disfigured body, uncaring about how they should bury her filth.
chirstiangrl was a werewolf.
