Who's The Boss
Game #228: The Braingle Times
This private game is moderated by 4demo. Please read the rules and contact the moderator with any questions or concerns about this game.
This game finished in 5 rounds.
Welcome to what I hope will be a fun, active, and overall interesting and enjoyable game! (no guarantees though...) I know this is lengthy, but please read it.
The storyline and rules for this game are as follows:
1. Congratulations! You are one of eight staff reporters for the Braingle Times , an award-winning newspaper. To keep up its superior reputation, the paper (rather, the people running it, not the paper itself) is weeding out all unsatisfactory or lazy reporters, keeping only those who are focused and active. The Editor (you must always capitalize the name), aka Boss, and the Assistant Editor, aka Rat, are extremely ambitious perfectionists who are making sure that none of the staff reporters stay and threatened their sought-after positions. The Editor's assistant is extremely loyal to the Editor and is helping the Editor determine who stays and who goes.
2. To stay in the game, each round you must post a short "article" stating for whom you are voting with a brief explanation why. This article must be posted before the voting deadline. Honesty is the best policy... with some exceptions, of course.
3. Beginning with the third round (if we get that far), all players, including the Editor and Assistant Editor, must also post a second "article" answering the Psych question. Honesty is preferred for all staff reporters but not required.
4. The Editor is too busy with "important stuff" to always be concerned with mundane matters involving staff reporters, so the newspaper's very powerful Human Resources department (aka the Mod) will have authority to fire reporters without warning (but only with good reason). HR can fire reporters for slacking off (not posting an "article"), not reporting to work (inactive for an entire round), using inappropriate language in the workplace, failure to respect authority (not following directions), etc. If you are fired, I will PM you with the reason.
Please note that Psych questions will not be yes-no or one-word questions, but rather open-ended, "thought-provoking" questions. For example, the question will not be "What is your favorite color?" but could be something like "What fictional character would you most like to be for one day and why?"
Before the first round begins, please read and familiarize yourself with the rules if you have not already done so. If you are not yet my Buddy and would like to play, please PM me; I will Buddy you if I think you are friendly and active, but I reserve the right not to Buddy you. Contact Human Resources with any further questions or suggestions.

I usually prefer 24-hour rounds as well, but I know that not everyone can be on every day, so I figure 48-hour rounds allow more people to play without being afraid that they'll be fired for inactivity. I doubt I'll ever do more than 48 hours though.

Human Resources would like to [kindly] remind all employees that HR has the power to fire any and all employees for slacking off, and it will not hesitate to use that power if necessary . Therefore, it is imperative that you follow all the rules. No labor strikes or other acts of defiance are allowed, or you will be promptly fired. This is your first and last warning.

BREAKTHROUGH NEWS!!
The Human Resources department at the Braingle Times newspaper announced, to the shock of many, today that an unnamed employee has been put on precursory probation prior to beginning work. HR justifies this unprecedented act as follows: "The employee in question clearly displays a rebellious nature and profound disregard for pre-established rules." However, HR believes the employee possibly possesses enough skills and experiences necessary to properly perform his/her job and also admits that the hiring contract is binding. Therefore, the employee may not be fired until he/she has begun work. Strange as it may sound, HR assures you this is a true story and any and all appropriate actions will be taken to keep the workplace free of those it deems "unsatisfactory". More information will be available at a later time.

On a slightly different note, I logged on today and my PM Inbox was rather flooded with requests to join this game. I felt really bad about having to turn down so many requests, though I am pretty pleased that people do seem to want to join this game. Unless this game is a complete failure, I think I'll go larger games in the future to allow more people to play.

This should be fun, with some from our 'usual' crowd...
We now have our tenth and final player. The game should be starting soon. Remember, as part of your employment agreement, you must post an article detailing your vote or be fired for inactivity. The Editor and Assistant Article must also each post an article, but they are the only players allowed to lie. ALL OTHER PLAYERS MUST BE HONEST. If I find that you are not an Editor but lied, you will be fired.
Other than that, good luck to everybody!
