Anyway on to the story.
Everyone had arrived. Waiting inside the entrance of the building, still a bit catuious as to what this was all about. It was not long before stewie arrived.
Welcome everyone glad to see you all made it here.
You 20 people have been lucky enough to be chosen from thousands, to celebrate the 100 year history
of this town centre. In honour of this event. A special dinner is being held. If you would please follow me.
The group followed stewie to the main hall of the building.
Ok here we are. I hope you enjoy
Your meal.
"Bon apitiet" said stewie as he pushed the double doors open to reveal a massive buffet.
If ynu don't want anything from the buffet or have any requests for the dinner you want please come see me.
Oh and there I a bar over there.
Oh and one last thing before I go. The toilets are down the hall as soon as you leave this room and to the left.
Stewie.

hmm my first impression of the boss would be a younger male...because I dont know that many girls that would go secret agent and not many adult males would either....going superleaf
Give a man a match, and he'll be warm for a minute, but set him on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

I guess it does sound like a male. Not sure about the age.
I don't know most of the people here, so I'm going to cast a safety vote for brainyboy, I guess.

Woah. That started super quick!
I was off all day, so really I'm cleared.
But braingle doesn't show that since it shows I've been on today, so whatever. Think about timezones, though. The game started in round 0 when I was at school, and I don't have internet access to braingle at school (comes under the Games category ) so I only just got home. But I don't mind not being cleared. Means I live longer.
EDIT: No, I would not be a dream agent. I would want to be an actor, if I got to choose.
Only clear due to log-in times is masoni88. So he's cleared from boss.
I don't think LR wants to be a secret agent, nor do I think froggygg would either.
I'll put in a vote for ka-ching for now.

Well, there's only so much I can do with the memo, considering the fact that I am acquainted with very few of the players here, but I do agree that it sounds vaguely male... Girls like secret agents too, however, so I'm not at all eliminating girls from my mental list. For the moment, voting Jubu42.
I'm eliminating girls. Boss is male. But I could be wrong
We really don't have much to go on yet, so I'm going to toss out a fish vote for masoni.

Is it possible that masoni sent in the memo two days ago and that we've been waiting on the mod this time? I just want to make sure that we don't clear someone now and have that assumption hurt us later.
In the mean time, I will be putting out a vote for joseph.
Edit: Vote confirmed.

Hello all. :]
I'm going to play to stereotypes and assume, for now, that the boss is male and possibly younger. I'm going to cast a vote for Markus. Hopefully I'll be able to be useful later on.
Why didn't the Libertarian cross the road?

Since caberet says that masoni is cleared, I'll change my vote to Wolverine.

I said masoni was cleared first.
And Wolverine, Round 0 and Round 1 started on the same day. So he couldn't have sent in a memo two days ago, since there was no boss chosen to send a memo into two days ago.
masoni88 is indefinitely cleared.

First round is always difficult. I agree it could be a younger male so will place a vote for Smithy.

I agree that the boss is most likely male, but I dont think they are nessasarily young but they may be. I will post a vote for brainyboy.

It's "likely" that the Boss is a young male, but ruling anyone out based on an assumption such as that would be risky.
I hope we don't have any more clearings based on timing, takes the fun out of the game.
Fish voting joseph for having an alarming amount of assuredness.

And as for a majority, I think it's time we got one started, don't you? It would seem we already have something going for Brainyboy, so I'll switch to form a majority. If anyone has a problem with voting Brainy, now is the time to speak up.
I don't think the memo was written by 4demo, Camillee, Froggy, Markus, Roger. Those I am almost sure did not write it. In my mind, the ones most likely to have written it are Jubu, Tinypenguin, Superleaf, Smithy, and possibly 4wheels. The rest I'm not sure about; most of them are completely new to me. This isn't at all definitive, but the process of elimination might help us out a bit. Just because they're not the Boss, however, doesn't mean they're not the Rat, so don't immediately go trusting anybody on the "least likely" list.

I don't remember the title or author, but I remember reading (part of? all of?) a book several years ago about someone who dreamed of becoming a spy from a young age - she did later apply to be a spy for the CIA, was successfully recruited and trained, etc. While this certainly isn't indicative of everybody, I don't want to immediately assume it's a young male at question. Also, it's possible the person plans to become or even is, I don't know, a surgeon or journalist or banker or biologist or any number of other things that are more easily achievable, but harbors an inner attraction to the excitement, stealth, prestige, etc. of being a secret agent.
I'm willing to join the majority on brainyboy though. If we have a majority forming, we might as well make some definite use of it.

Since there is a mini-majority I will place a vote for brainyboy.
Sorry about being late to the party guys, although it appears I am cleared. I would join the majority, but since I'm cleared, I assume I'll be fired if I do. I suggest we make a large majority on one person, so that we can methodically clear players for sure, and have less people to suspect.
First round is the safest to stay in a majority. I'll keep my vote on brainyboy, and only masoni is cleared for certain.
Joining the majority for brainyboy as well!

That sounds like it comes from personal experience.
Why is he copying me? or is it purely subconscious?
He's not really copying you though. He's just saying something we're probably all thinking when we see a number of people vote for males. ".... the boss could be female though". And of course, that can be explained with the reasoning that women can want to be secret agents as well.We should certainly not count anyone out, but that's a given unless someone is definitively cleared. I do fear that at least one of the people who have voiced this concern that we not count out the females is trying to make us change our votes if the boss is indeed male. Though, the boss could also easily be a female who is jumping on the bandwagon for a supposedly male boss.
GA is right. Though I recognise the 'cool' aspect of the secret agent (and have an imagination childish enough to boot) it sounds too bureaucratic of a job, with the one in real life not having enough 'neat gadgets'. I guess it depends on what you define as a "secret agent". I define it as: Bond. A real life version likely couldn't compare. Just like I'm not sure I'd really want to take up 'badge' and holster at a small dry town near a stretch of desert.
I'll probably join the majority later.

Why didn't the Libertarian cross the road?
I think if any guy in this game claimed that they wouldn't enjoy spending their time driving fast cars and motor boats around the world, getting involved in gunfights and explosions but somehow always surviving, and playing with all sorts of futuristic gadgets... then real life has destroyed their spirit somewhat.
I don't like majorities in the opening round unless there are mandatories - at the moment only 4wheels hasn't voted, so I won't join, for now at least.

Whenever you're boss, don't you think of the various answers that are true and correct for you, then if there's more than 1 you pick the one that doesn't point directly to you? Yes, I didn't word that well, but there are generally several possible options. All that are completely true, but don't you present whatever might not lead directly to you? Yes, see, you do that too!
I don't think that we can rule out anyone. I bet a lot of a spy's work has to do with computer hacking. And other electronics stuff. And going undercover probably isn't very glamorous.

I agree with Cab that we cannot rule anyone out but I also recognize that with no other clues or suspicions then we should start with the most likely candidates, which in this case would be a young male.

Right now, we can't rule out any of the players other than masoni. If we look too deep into the memo, we might make a mistake.

I see four points that are pretty common: 1. it sounds male (most of us would agree to that and have stated thusly) 2. But we shouldn't fail to suspect females 3. Women/girls can have said aspects that relate to the psych answer. 4. Random safety vote.
You added more, he less. I would say it's a common format and that the boss/rat would have no more suspicion of using them all accidentally than anyone else.
I should stop arguing about minute details in these games. I must remind myself that I am not a logician.

I feel the need to mention that brainy did not get enough votes to clear him. I believe we need at least thirteen tp assure that figuring that the rat and the boss would say they voted.

thats why I switched...I dont want to be on the firing list for not a sure thing
Give a man a match, and he'll be warm for a minute, but set him on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

I think we need twelve stated votes to clear someone this round [the majority of 18 real votes: 10; plus two to account for boss/rat; I think I've finally gotten the hang of that calculation (hopefully)]
Unfortunately we didn't even get enough to clear him if we assumed the boss and rat weren't in it. It was close, so that's depressing, but oh well. Some of us will be gone.
And sorry I missed your birthday, Stewie. I hope you don't mind, but I don't like dwelling on the past, so instead, I'll be one of the first to wish you a happy extremely-early birthday for next year.

Why didn't the Libertarian cross the road?

If three more people disagreed with that mentality, we would have at least had firings for a reason. Though, I have no suspicions for Brainyboy, anyway. Lol. But it would have been better, at least.

Hey cab, you might want to double check my post earlier this round. It might be helpful for your list. Also, I will be traveling tomorrow and out of town until Saturday, but I should be able to get internet access at least once. I wanted to warn you all in case you wonder.
Dear God, That which I am about to do is really stupid. I hope I come out of this alive. Thanks God. Peace Out. (Stage Crew Prayer)

Why does everyone add two to account for boss and rat?
If the boss is voting the majority, then the candidate isn't boss!
We needed 11 votes to clear brainyboy, and unfortunately we didn't get it.

well you forget that the rat could lie and state that thet went with the majority so at least one vote should be deducted...but I get your point with the boss but they can also lie and say they went with the majority so that two you gotta subtract...
BTW if I'm fired superleaf is 100% cleared

*Still hasn't gotten used to being wrong even with excessive practice*
GA mentioned the rat; he counted him in the vote minimum. He has a point about the boss, though. Still, it's better to be safe rather than be found in an unfortunate case. But yeah.
By the way, GA, what's up with the Guy Fawkes siggy? I must now be noticing it.

Oh, you'll only be noticing it now because I used to have no signature. I didn't know what to put in it, so I left it blank for ages. I only put it up like 3 days ago, I think. But ever since I studied the film last year in English, I have been quietly obsessed with V for Vendetta.
And so you can see where my quote is from... Also, I'm in love with Natalie Portman, so even more reason.

I've never seen the film, myself. I only know the quote via the holiday and rhyme and was just wondering why you'd be celebrating it now. Lol. Having seen the film makes more sense. Though there's a part of me that just can't say no to the idea of bonfires all year 'round (legally ).

Depending on who the boss fires, brainy can still get cleared. 4wheels hasn't been on for 2 days so very likely is a mandatory., unless she is the boss. Aside from the 9 voting for brainy, the only other majority is for LR, in which brainy and masoni voted. I don't know how you guys can keep saying if its not a boss/rat proof majority then no one is cleared. As long as those fired all voted in the same majority, then we can still clear players.
We still need to form majorities, even if they are not boss/rat proof.
So far we have 1 definite cleared player.
Knowledge is not power. The USE of knowledge is power.

I hate to hit a girl when she's down, but I'd like to vote 4wheels next round. The secret agent concept would fit her character, as would the writing style. She just now was able to get on, just long enough to send off the new memo. I think it would be a worthwhile clear.
