Who's The Boss
Game #2803: WTB: Active Store Revamped 2
This game is moderated by jarmihi. Please read the rules and contact the moderator with any questions or concerns about this game.
This game finished in 9 rounds.
First off, I should like to congratulate Elios on a successful victory, despite probing psych questions and a record ten clues. This is, by far, the longest WTB game I've ever moderated, finishing in nine (technically seven) rounds. The large number of inactives at the beginning threw the game's logic off a bit, and we were limited to only one firing throughout most of the game.

The number of inactives this game was quite surprising. I may simply return to Friends List-only games. Of course, all active players in this game will be added to the list should I decide to do so.
In terms of strategy, it was a poor effort. Teamwork was significantly lacking; I haven't seen a team of players who haven't made voting lists in many years. There was little discourse on the clues and challenges, and it seemed as if everyone was in it for themselves (especially after reading buu's final comment last round).
The Lens of Truth was, unfortunately, short lived. Izzie didn't understand that the user must give a username, not "My target is the Boss. Reveal the Boss." I thought it was rather obvious that I wouldn't end the game just because a player bought an item. This misunderstanding delayed the revealing process, and she missed Round 4. Compound that with my policy of, "Ask in PM, answer in PM; ask in game, answer in game," and you get one uncredible, suspicious source.
Izzie, however, should also be praised: she had the highest cumulative score ever across all of my games at 40 points.

The Boss
I have only two things to say about the Boss.
The first, you had an inactive rat, and yet you still pulled off a victory. Very nice!
The second is a question: why didn't you spend more Firing Points? You ended the game with 18+ FP!

The Challenges
Round 1
KEY: "Babylon 5" (a sci-fi TV show from the early 1990s)
1. Hyperspace - an area of warped space allowing for faster travel to a location
2. Centauri - a humanoid species from the planet Centauri Prime, no genetic relationship to humans
3. Starship - a ship...in the stars
4. Ultraviolet - light with a higher frequency than violet; the most urgent security alert on Babylon 5
Round 3
Answer: "flash drive"
"larger self" limits it to flash drive (referring to a computer)
"filled or emptied" -- generally, information transfers between the flash drive and the computer
"Many people carry my siblings." -- it is a common item seen around the world today, even more than CDs
Round 4
Answer: THERE AREN'T ANY GROWNUPS. WE SHALL HAVE TO LOOK AFTER OURSELVES
from Lord of the Flies
Round 5
Answer: "Motion, Magnetism, Electricity"
(this was actually a riddle found on Braingle.com)

The Clues
Remember that the clues are supposed to get easier the more you buy. Here's an explanation of each clue.
1. end of newfangled result of head-over-heels labor
Classification: Apple (see below)
Difficulty: 5/5
Explanation: a very cryptic way to say "modern result of labor, backwards"
2. new electrical produce
Classification: Apple
Difficulty: 4/5
Explanation: new electrical Apple
3. like an old soul
Classification: mythology
Difficulty: 5/5
Explanation: cryptic for "ancient god"
4. of the outer existence
Classification: astronomy
Difficulty: 3/5
Explanation: cryptic for "in outer space"
5. baklava
Classification: Greek
Difficulty: 3.5/5
Explanation: baklava is a Greek dessert
6. fresh, small fruit
Classification: Apple
Difficulty: 3/5
Explanation: cryptic for "new, handheld Apple"
7. epic
Classification: Greek, literature
Difficulty: 3.5/5
Explanation: Homer was a Greek epic poet famous for works like The Odyssey.
8. countless siblings
Classification: astronomy
Difficulty: 1.5/5
Explanation: there are countless stars in the universe
9. gives life
Classification: Greek, astronomy
Difficulty: 2/5
Explanation: Without the sun, we couldn't survive. Thus, the sun gives life.
10. lunar seafarer
Classification: pop culture
Difficulty: 2/5
Explanation: cryptic for "Sailor Moon", a popular anime: Elios was a minor character. A simple Wikipedia search on this one would've solved it.
One of the Apple classifications points to the "El" in "Elios". Turn "Apple" backwards and you get "Elppa". The "small, fresh" and "new electrical produce" were meant to point to iOS, Apple's operating system for their mobile devices. Put them together and you get "EliOS".
All the Greek and mythology classifications point to the fact that "Elios" (more commonly, "Helios") was the Greek god of the sun, who would ride his brilliant chariot across the sky once every day.
All the astronomy classifications point to the sun, and again, that "Elios" is an alternate name for the Greek sun god.

Soo surprised to have won this one! I felt sure the Psych questions would've given me away, especially the one about genres of books I like (my Wiki plainly states I'm a wanna-be fantasy author; that usually gets me tagged in these games). Plus that last clue... Of course, I was viewing things from a unique POV, seeing as I knew who the boss was.
@ Firing Points: I'll be honest - I forgot I had those. It's also tricky when firing people too quickly; I didn't want to back myself into a corner by inadvertantly clearing someone.
@ Clues: I didn't get most of them; only 5, 7, 9, & 10 were apparent.
It worked out for me as Boss, but the lack of communication @ votes was frustrating. Like here at the end, emma, why didn't you tell buu you were voting for me? (Well, I only assume you voted me b/c you didn't show up for firing.)
Overall it was a good game. Nice modding, jarmihi!

Thanks! Things I have to work on:
1. making sure the rules are very clear, especially regarding item use
2. making the challenges up ahead of time
3. writing the psych question right when the round starts

Awesome game. Very well played. My first decent WTB game in ages, so I'd kinda forgotten how that whole voting list thing had worked, but it was always someone else who did it, not me, so I never really thought of it. Some really well constructed clues. I had a bit of a go at them, but I just don't think I have the brain for it. I love the active store idea. Maybe if we'd started off with twenty players things would have worked out differently. Very pleased. Well played Elios.
yeah. emma hardly ever mentioned whom she voted for. of course most prorbaly i wouldnt have believed it since i thought she was the boss. but still, that just increases suspicion if you dont mention your vote.
Leo: Hold on. This is gonna hurt. Coach Hedge: I was BORN for HURT!!

I've never run a 20-player game. While I have the economy set up for it, I think I'm too afraid of having that many people.

okie. for the record id did know that i had to name the target.
i thought that I would try and have some fun with it.
that is why in my second PM a said "it was worth a shot"
i did share the info, but apparently no one saw that post because i had to repeat it
and i i don't think that any one saw the second post either.
it was a very good game. i have never lasted so long while not voting for the right person.
funny too because i was going to change my vote to elious, but thought for sure that i would be fired.
Ë™Çızzı(p) ¿y ahora? the new refrigerator came. If you need me, i will be playing in the box.
