Acepptable memo but I guess I should of made it harsher for your reasons. Otherwise my fault
My thoughts on the memo are:
1) Boss's annoyance at the sports discussion (though no one else was talking about the game and it was only 3 or 4 posts) indicates a non-sports minded person - likely female
2) The fact the favorite game can be played alone and therefore is non-competitive also suggest female as very few males (especially the younger ones like we have in the game) are non-competitive. . Again this suggests a female, as males are by nature more competitive than females
3) Although The "mastermind" the boss plays sounds like it differs from the one I played in my youth - -
(I) unless you set up "special rules" there is no changing the colours or peg count in each game.
(II) As you need someone to set the pattern up to solve; you can't really play alone (how hard would it be to repeat a pattern you created)
(III) IF you get it right in the 15 tries you are given, you win; if not your opponent wins
(IV) There is a limit, but it can be changed by moving the shield that blocks the pattern from the solver's sight
(V) The rules of the game are actually pretty easy
My guess is, that the boss is playing an online version of the game, though I'm not sure what that can tell us - as even though I'm old I've been playing on a PC since before a lot of you were born. :laugh;
Matermind is available all over the world in a computer game and even the physical board game can be bought almost anywhere.
Reason 5 the boss likes the game (very simple) may indicate a younger person who does not like complex games (such as chess).
Sader2011 lists "logic puzzles" as an interest in her profile and Mastermind is definitely a logic based game.
For those who are not familiar with it,
Your opponent sets up a series of coloured pegs (hidden from your view) that you then have to recreate. With each guess your opponent (or the computer) will tell you how many of your pegs are: wrong altogether, right colour but wrong spot, and the right colour in the right spot.
The only way to solve the puzzle is through trial and error applied in a logical way. And as a teacher, Sader2011 could well prefer games without a winner or loser as the practice of promoting competitiveness in schools is no longer used.
Just some thoughts - voting Sader2011 I encourage you to join me as we need to continue to clear people since our clear from last round was fired.

Maybe the dog only brings the ball back because he thinks you like throwing it.

habs, where did the boss get annoyed at the sports discussion? he said go ahead and chat about sports.
so here goes.
i love sports. i'm a sprinter and a very good one at that. won most races when i was a kid and can beat the boys' time. so therefore my fav movie is chariots of fire. i also watch soccer, rugby, gymnastics, tennis, golf, volleyball, and synchronized diving.
anyway.. well i've heard of mastermind.. i guess it's okay and i've heard of people solving them in 5 tries. of course if the boss plays with 20 colours and pegs.. haha! that'll take a while. what if the boss actually wrote himself the game in java or php something which is why all the extra options?
well i'll agree on sader and i'm voting for him too. it fits and i don't have a better opinion.

I took the boss's memo to be a bit sarcastic "sure talk about sports while we should be discussing the game" sort of thing. You can see in my profile I like sports, hockey and Braingle, I did point out the boss must be playing online or there would be no way to play lacrosse (box over field), cycling, tennis, and some others. I have been trying to figure cricket out but it confuses me,

Sorry for the double posr but it is easier than editing on my tab.
Braingle, if you read my post I very clearly say the boss must be playing a computerised version of the game. I teresting Braingle is using "he" to refer to the boss, given there is a higher probability of the boss being female? A slipup by the r at perhaps?

i'm not good at sarcastic lol
yeah she. i sometimes just say he regardless.
when i talked about the boss writing the game herself is because i actually searched mastermind games online and didn't find one that resembled it. they all have like 5 pegs 6 colours or something and run out of moves quickly. yet the boss says 20 pegs and colours and unlimited moves. sorry i missed posting this little bit

Even though I've never played Mastermind before in my life (even with my love of logic), go ahead and clear me. I'll take it. I'm not voting for myself, however. I'm looking at whom we have left, and I see braingle01, HABS2933, Kaipper, nicats, myself, and talaisawsome... I know I'm not the boss, so that leaves 5 of you who could be the "big guy/girl" (or according to HABS, younger girl, because of all of the stereotypes she's leaning on).
As for my like/dislike of sports, I, honestly, skipped over all of that. I wasn't interested in reading it. I'd rather participate, preferably if the sport is tennis. Watching or reading about sports bores me, so it neither angers or excites me.
As for the:
well, that's just offensive, especially in my classroom. Voting for my fellow female, HABS2933.

Yeah, I usually say "he" too, but I'm old and that was acceptable in my youth. I'm not saying it isn't a case of that with you as well, I'm just saying given the proportion of males to females left in the game, and the tone of some of the memos, I am giving 5:1 odds that the boss is female and that you're saying "he" may not have been the "universal he" but in fact you're having inside knowledge that the boss is actually male. I do not think you are the boss at all, but I am sniffing out a possible rat. Defending the memos ("when did the boss say that?" "What if the boss wrote it?") and trying to muddy the waters to confuse us. You jumped on my suggestion of Sader in at least part (according to your own post) "don't have a better option". Not really a great reason this late in the game to vote for someone. But of course in this game, you have to vote somebody or get fired (or at least make it appear you are voting).
My take on things:
HABS2933 Obviously I am neither
braingle01 - no suspicion of her being the boss, but leaning toward her being the rat (she is quite a bit more active in this game than she is in a lot of them).
nicats Don't really suspect her of either role, fairly confident that she is an employee
Kaipper Not a lot to go on, hasn't posted more than once per round and offers little help. Could be a boss afraid of being discovered.
talaisawsome - Also hasn't said much. Again this could be the sign of an inexperienced boss not wanting to say too much.
sader2011 Possibly the boss, some things fit (at least in my mind). At this point, I'd say it is my "best guess"
My paring would be SADER as the boss, and Braingle as her rat. Not that finding the rat matters, but I am leaning that way.
IF it is not Sader then I'd have to go with ,Kaipper or Tala (in that order) but we don't get more than one more chance to be wrong.. I'd advise joining the sader vote to either win or clear her. Then the next round will end it either way. IF we are right, we win, if not the boss does.

I voted Tala but was kinda of thinking this is not the boss. I agree with most of what Habs stated. Of course I have never played mastermind that I know of. But it could be possible that I tried it and didn't like it since I do like to give games a chance.

nicats - it is an OLD game. MB put it out. I used to play it wayyyy back in the 80s! But as stated previously- that was not an online version but the board game version of it.
From the perspective of the picture, we set up that pattern and the other player (sitting at the opposite end) is trying to recreate it in as few tries as possible. The orange pegs indicate Right colour, right spot; while the white pegs indicate right colour, wrong spot. it is pretty fun. You have until you run out of spots to get it. I seemed to recall black pegs for "wrong colour, wrong spot" but they are nto shown here, so I may be mistaken.

I've played mastermind before but I only have mastermind number. It's just numbers instead of coloured balls.
That was probably the original way to play it as you don't need any special equipment other than a pen and paper.

I have played that before. I don't see how it helps us determine who the boss is though.
Randomly voting for Tala for now.
Randomly voting for Tala for now.
Random votes do us no good. We need to come up with a plan to fire the boss. If everyone votes differently we will never fire him or her as we need 50% of the votes to go to the boss.
We have 6 players left which means 3 have to vote for the boss. As the boss and rat will likely state votes, but are not counted in those 3 votes, we need 5/6 people to state votes for the same person in order to ensure the boss gets fired.
If we do not find the boss this round - 1 player will be fired leaving 3 players and the boss and rat . After that we have ONE round to figure it out. It is shaping up to look like a boss win unless we pull it together!

Kaiper - since the boss said that Mastermind was their favorite game, knowing what mastermind is can be useful. I played as a kid way back in the dark ages, but now I prefer more challenging games. I enjoy most trivia games until I have to answer questions on Pop Culture which I know little about.

if i'm sader's rat why would i say i'm voting her?
or how about kaipper as boss/rat because of random voting..

As I've said 1000 times before -I don't' concern myself with the rat as it doesn't matter. The game isto find the boss- NOT the rat. I don't really trust anybody so I don't need to know the rat.
Kaiper could also very well be the rat or the boss because of the seemingly randomness of her votes. IF you go back and read my post, I put Kaiper as my 2nd choice behind Sader.
To me Sader is the best choice. I encourage others to help me bust/clear her.
Why would you as the rat say you were voting for the boss? If people suspect you as the rat then then will pay no attention to who you say you are voting for, and vote different from you. They would assume that whomever you are "voting" for must not be the boss, for as you say "why would I vote for the boss".
