"Mommy, Mommy, I am the best pitcher alive!" A young boy exclaimed. "I pitched four strikeouts in the first inning!"
"No son, you can only pitch three an inning."
"No honey," the father said, "you can have four strikeouts."
How?

Answer
You can have four strikeouts if the third strike that is thrown is a wild pitch, and/or the catcher doesn't catch it, then you can steal first base. If the runner makes it to first, then it still counts as a strikeout, but without the out.Hide Answer Show Answer

Which has more obscure rules -- baseball or golf? Interesting teaser. Thanks.
baseball is more obscure, but this rule is not very obscure - happens often
very cute I thought it was a double header...
I was surprised to see the hard rating so high. I knew the answer to it instantly. Then again I spend to much time around baseball, I guess it kinda makes me feel like I do know something other people don't.
Then he wasn't the best pitcher alive if he pitched a wild pitch
I knew the answer right away, but then again, I eat, sleep, and breathe baseball.
I AM NO GOOD IN BASEBALL!!!
Good one man!! Also though, if he played for both teams he could have had up to .... well you get it. Great quiz
It could have happened if he struck out all three batters when he was pitching and he struck out when he was batting in the other half of the same inning.
I knew this right away, but why? I don't think I've ever seen a batter steal first base. Maybe it is more common in little league? I don't know. It is interesting how something this obscure works it's way into the public conscience. I'm surprised this did not seem to be an American only response.
Fun, easy and entertaining teaser. I got it very quickly.
