Cryptogram
A short piece of text where letters have been replaced by different letters or symbols.

A cryptogram is a puzzle that consists of a short piece of encrypted text. Generally, the cipher used to encrypt the text is simple enough that the cryptogram can be solved by hand. Substitution ciphers are most commonly used. This is where each letter in the original text is replaced by a different letter, number or symbol. The same mapping is used throughout the entire puzzle. For example, every A in the original list may be replaced with the letter G.
To solve the puzzle, one must discover the original lettering. A common technique for solving these types of puzzles is to look for common prefixes and suffixes. For example, "pre-" or "-ing". Another thing you can do is look at the frequency of letters that appear in the list. In English, certain letters are more commonly used than others. Here are the letters, in order: E, T, A, O, I, N, S, R, H, L, D, C, U, M, F, P, G, W, Y, B, V, K, X, J, Q, Z. You can use this help determine the real letters in your Cryptogram.
Here is an example. Can you decipher this famous quote and name the author?
