The Wonderful Lucid Dreams of Little Sue - For the Youngsters 1
Language
Language brain teasers are those that involve the English language. You need to think about and manipulate words and letters.Language
Sweet Sue is an 11 year old little girl born and raised in the good town of Ottawa, Kansas. Unfortunately, ever since her pet goldfish, Silky, passed away and had to be turned over to Mr. Toilet, Sue has had some very interesting dreams. She keeps dreaming Silky is kidnapped on his way to Fish Heaven from Mr. Toilet by some very tricky Goo-monsters, and it's up to Sue to save him (lucid dreaming helps...)!
Sue is ready to go to bed, knowing she will once again dream of her good friend, Silky. Just as she closes her little eyes and goes to sleep, the Goo-monsters appear. Oh no! They have Silky trapped in a sealed aquarium! The Goo-monsters throw the key into a little ciphered box, and leave poor Silky trapped between Earth and Fish Heaven for ever. Now, it's completely up to Sue to open the little box, get the key, and free her goldfish.
The box looks regular at first, but modern technology seems to be to the Goo-monsters' liking. On one of the sides, Sue sees a touchscreen panel, with the following five words written one on top of the other:
AQUARIUM
BELATED
CAIRO
MELODY
HUMOUR
Just before they leave Sue all alone, the Goo-monsters say:
"1,2,3,
We like chronology,
Push the right 5 letters
And silky you will free!
Mwahahahahaha!!!!!"
"It must be some sort of pattern between the letters I have to push", Sue thinks to herself. "What are the right 5 letters that can free my very good friend Silky?"

Hint
The Goo-monsters offer a big clue just before they leave. You will have to look for a pattern that involves some sort of order. The words depend on each other...
Answer
Sue pushed the first letter from the first word, the second from the second word, and so on, forming the 5 vowels: A, E, I, O, U. Happy with her success, she takes out the key and frees Silky, who is thankful to have such a clever friend. The Goo-monsters offer a clue when they refer to chronology or, in other words, order.
"The words depend on each other..." in the hint refers to the fact that the code would no longer make sense if one of the words were taken out or switched with another one of the five words.
Sue wakes up happy that Silky is free. She is well aware that the following night she will have to be tested again, but she feels confident. She will do anything to keep the Goo-monsters from stopping her friend from reaching Fish Heaven!
