On the hunt, the dog carries its head high, searching out the scent of game in the air and freezes "on point" when it has located the quarry. The Red Setter, or Irish Setter as it should be called, was originally used as a hunting companion and in the sport of falconry. This elegant, active, and beautiful dog was one of the most popular show dogs of the late 19th Century and makes a lovable addition to the family, as long as it has outdoor activity every day.
