I managed to figure out the last two but not the first one! Nice teaser.
I usually don't gripe, but the question should have stated words not items. For example, A HUT has nothing in common with a state but the WORD hut does.
I thought it was that they all contain the letter a at the beginning. KERCHOO!
Good one. I think the hint was very good, but it may have made the teaser a little easy. Good job, though. brettcw

I don't think brettcw was trying to be mean, he just suggested something to make the teaser better.
I FIGURED IT OUT ONCE I SAW THE HINT
It's weird how the mind works. Some easy teasers can stump me, while occaisionally I have little epiphanies and see harder ones right away...Oh, well. I guess I need to eat more fish. Fun teaser.
I agree with brettcw, the wording was confusing.

shouldn't there be 3 a's for the 3rd state
I did not get it, but it has been around before. It is an okay teaser though and I have no complaints.
After reading the definition for language puzzles, probably for the hundredth time since I've been on Braingle, it made me realize that I should just move the letters around. Right away I saw Maine and then the other two just fell into place.

I got the answer fairly quickly, but this was overall a good one.
Um, all 3 items are supported by timber?
