THERE IS MORE THAN ONE CORRECT RESPONSE TO THIS PUZZLE.
no...YOU'RE wrong...i guess chess boards are made 8x7 now...how about A-H instead of A-G next time there buddy...
If lilredneck is saying that JRogers27 is wrong, then lilredneck is wrong. The solution given works, but at the very least can be spun 4 ways on the board or mirrored - leaving 8 possible applications of this solution. In addition, the solution I found was A1, B6, C2, F7, G3. The corner (A1) can be any of the 4, and the other 4 can be mirrored horizontally or vertically. So, there are at least 16 possible solutions that I've seen.
The alternate solution GTregay arrived at (A1, B6, C2, F7, G3) isn't correct. The teaser states that "every square --including those occupied by the Queens-- are under attack." My first solution (A8, B6, C5, D7, E5) was perfect except for that fact. None of my queens were attacking the other queens. I liked the teaser... and A-G isn't a big deal if you know something about chess.
Very true, seagull - you caught a detail that I miseed!
