didnt really make all that much sense and was reeeeeeally far out there
Sorry to hear that. Here, have a herring
Great rebus !!! (I didn't get it).
But I recognized the technique STRAIGHT AWAY and knew it would be difficult !!
But I also agree with penquinatheart that it's reeeeeeeelllllyyyy a stretch. So I wanna know when the herring is (before a competent magistrate I hope) so I can testify !! Then, afterwards, we can all smoke a couple er three.

Before the editorial police kick in my front door I perhaps should clarify my previous comment (I've been warned !!).
I meant, of course, two or three of the fish. That way we could get smoked and not pickled.
Looked at it again. FINE rebus. Innovative approach. Again, it's got a great VISUAL aspect to it.

I think the Editor Police are more likely to kick your door down for you saying this rebus is a stretch
omg did u see teh elf !
Was he the one with the pointy shoes and the bell on his hat?...No I didn't
Stumped me on this one. The only thing I could come up with was ment - government - Big Brother - Taxes - rich robbing from the poor. This is nasty, too. Maybe I wasn't too far off?!
I guessed "To (two) give to charity covers a multitude of sins." Couldn't figure out where "employment" worked in. Rats! Love your rebusses...rebi...rebussen
Teasers! Please keep them coming. I'm new here and think I'm already showing signs of addiction.

great job anyway
Well then it could just as easily be 'a nice piece of work' because there's nothing hat indicates there is anything special about the last line.
