she could have been alone in a jail cell figuring out on a piece of paper a complicated math problem when she decided to use a calculator but when she looked at the calculator there was a large tarantula on it.
No... she was in a dark nightclub and the piece of paper was a phone number that a guy she was talking to had given to her. However, this guy was actually an android. She looked up at him and saw that his face was beginning to peel away from his inner machine. So she ran away dropping the paper.
hey clever... i mean the comments... or she could have been banking at one of those tuby things (I'm only eleven so i wouldn't know what they are called) and when she got her receipt she was curious because she never read one before and then she dropped it because it was boring and then she looked up and screamed because the tuby thing suddenly transfigured into a spider-like mechanical thing.
or she could have been at a race track and the machine was the thing the dogs chase and she betted alot of money and lost
or, she could have been sitting in a dark room with a computer in it, then looked at a piece of paper that had an internet site on it, and, looking back at her computer, she noticed that it was a huge smiley face, which made her jump, and then that drew the attention of a murderer sleeping behind her, who picked her up, and she, screaming, was taken out of the room running.

Not bad, but who watches the projector in a movie theatre? Could have been worded better.
Nice comments, everyone, but it is a situation teaser so technically, there was only one right answer, the yes/no questions would have proved that answer right, if you get what I mean.
