Brain Teasers
Detective Thomas.
Situation
Situation puzzles (sometimes called lateral thinking puzzles) are ones where you need to ask lots of yes or no questions to figure out what happened in the situation. These are good puzzles for groups where one person knows the puzzle and answers the questions.Situation
Detective Thomas was called to a crime scene late at night for investigating a murder of a woman. The area was a gloomy area with no lights. The witness was the neighbor of the woman who said he had seen the murder take place with the help of the light of the full moon.
Even though he could clearly see the full moon, Detective Thomas knew that the witness was lying. How?
Even though he could clearly see the full moon, Detective Thomas knew that the witness was lying. How?
Answer
Detective Thomas found it out because the murder took place during a lunar eclipse, and there was total darkness. A lunar eclipse takes place during a full moon day and the maximum time a lunar eclipse can last is 3 hours and 40 minutes.Hide Answer Show Answer

too technical
Nah, this would be cool in a group trying to figure it out. Disregard that last remark!
That was good.
Thank you for all your comments.
I don't like this teaser, and i'll tell you why. Don't get annoyed at me for what I am about to say. The Eclipse could have only been a few minutes long, therefore not being at the time of the murder.
I agree with bovinelover, while a lunar eclipse can last three hours (I'll take your word for that), most do not. Too much to guess, it could have just as easily been cloudy up until the time the detective arrived on the scene.
onlyeeore how can u tell ppl to ignore my coment it was a horrible teaser how did it even get approved!? no1 is gonna say "U R LYING THERE WAS A LUNAR ECLYPSE 2NITE" horrible teaser...ilovecows u agree with me doncha
Calm down, PCDguitar.
that was weird???!!!!
no way could i have guessed that.
The night mus've been at least 6 hours. How do you know that he saw it in the time zone of 3 hours and 40 minutes? Also the maximum is 3 hrs and 40 min., so what if it was less?
i agree with pcdguitar, even though he was too blunt. At least he tried. The person who sent the quiz I mean.
Could've happened during the day? The witness could have been blind. There are many reasons why it might have been a lie!
But the murder took place at 124 am and the eclipse lasted from 123 am to 125 am.
