Brain Teasers
The Chest
Situation
Situation puzzles (sometimes called lateral thinking puzzles) are ones where you need to ask lots of yes or no questions to figure out what happened in the situation. These are good puzzles for groups where one person knows the puzzle and answers the questions.Situation
The small group of adventurers came upon a hidden room and went in. There was an old chest in the middle of a 20 ft. by 20 ft. room. The room contains only the chest. There are paintings of 4 animals with different scenes on the walls of the room. The floor and ceiling are made of marble stone. The room is covered slightly with dust. The paintings seem almost alive, and cause the hair on the back of your neck to stand on end.
There is a golden figure of a lion painted on the wall across from the door. It is standing in a field of grass, his emerald eyes seem to be staring right at the doorway.
There is an obsidian snake on the wall, left of the lion. The snake has ruby eyes, and it appears as if it will strike any moment.
On the wall to the left of the door is a white wolf. He is hunkered down as if he is waiting for the right moment to attack. The eyes are jade and small, and he looks hungry.
On the wall to the right of the door, there is an ivory dove in flight in a bright and clear sky. The dove seems peaceful in its flight.
The chest is 10 ft. in length, and 5 ft. in width. The chest is trimmed with silver and gold, and has several gemstones on it. On the top of the chest, there is some writing.
It says:
To open me, you need to choose.
If you choose wrong, then you lose.
They will come to life,
And make their strike.
Choose me, and I will not fight.
I will bring peace and not strife.
Which one should the adventurers choose; the lion, snake, dove or wolf?
(Once you choose, touch the painting and I will open.)

i thought dove but i didnt know whether it would be right because it would be too obvious maybe???
great teaser anyway!!!!!
great teaser anyway!!!!!
That was such a great build up but the answer was way too obvious
I have to agree the dove was too obvious, it felt like there might be a trick to it but in the real situation I would have risked being mauled by a dove too at least over any of the other creatures.
Thanks for the feedback. Next time, I'll try not to be so obvious with the answer. Thanks
I thought dove but then i was like hmmm too obvious maybe it's the lion???
yup, i thought of the lion too, cos if the others by chance woke up, the lion could manage to handle them all and still allow you to open the chest. i thought dove first of course, but was sure there was a catch, too much "peace" being used made me suspicious !
I thought it was the wolf, but then thought about the dove..Great one
I thought it was a little obvious, good description though.
I guessed the dove, but then again it was too good to be true. Nice one

im a little confused. There are four animals but only three walls with paintings on them.
Not sure what you mean. There is 4 walls and 4 paintings. Dont know where you came up with 3 walls. There is the wall with the door, the wall to the left of the door, and right of the door, and the wall opposite of the door. That makes 4 walls with the 4 paintings.
The dove was obvious but it was a good teaser
very Easy, but great teaser! very D&D like
I thought dove, but then thought it was too obvious

My thought process: "Hmm... which animal would I want to come to life... guess I'll get ready to brawl with the dove."
Duh... Sorry, but that was waaaaaaay to SIMPLE!!!!! Anything harder, plz!!
And it could have been a lot shorter.
