Brain Teasers
David's Detention
Trick
Trick brain teasers appear difficult at first, but they have a trick that makes them really easy.Trick
A young boy went to school one day. When he got to math class, he realized that he had a test that he didn't study for. Thinking about what to do, he decided to cheat. About half way through the test, the teacher was looking at the class to make sure no one was cheating. She looked over and saw that David was. She gave David a detention and a zero on the test. Even though David was caught cheating, the young boy still turned in a test (which got a good grade) and never got a detention. How can this be?
Answer
Two people were cheating. Even though David got the detention, this young boy didn't. This boy's name is not David, and he did not get caught cheating.Hide Answer Show Answer

I liked it~!!!!!! good work!
I'm a little confused by this one. It's not quite written well enough to make everyone assume that the original boy in the story is David. Because of this, your answer totally threw me, waaahhh!
Actually I thought it was written quite well.
I got it immediately because its just a new face on an old riddle so I cant give you anything on originality but it was ok

Obvious but cute.
I got it right away also, but for the otherz who didn't you should re-word ur answer. It sounds like your saying that David got to hand in his paper because the teacher never caught the other kid, when really it means that the other kid was the one the riddle was talking about handing in the paper. I am here at my school with a bunch of friends and nobody except me and another understood the answer.
i thought david turned in a diffrent test....good work
So both David and the young boy were cheating? I get it. Sweet.
so easy
I thought David handed over a different test too... hee hee hee
The above comment has been voted offensive by me.

I would like to tell anyone else who posts a comment, this isn't supposed to be negative, if you haven't any thing to say that is positive, don't post.
Well, I liked it, easy but still liked it and fun don't get discouraged, keep those coming
Good one!!!
i agree with metallicman dont post negative things on here just because you didnt like it.
i thought that there were 2 people named David in the class cuz the problem is kinda worded worng. but i still liked it.
its not worded wrong. think of "young boy " as a name and you can see that its two different people.

You can't expect to receive only good comments, that's saying "I'm good, don't you all agree?"
true, but comments like "this was so stupid its gay" is not a constructive comment.
I thought it was great, made me think!
Thank you everyone who commented, I aprecciate it.
I also think it was worded very well, those people who didn't get it just didn't read it right. great teaser

I had to re-read it a couple of times, but I figured it out.

Interesting how some people always assume a person named and a person unnamed are the same person. Nice job Tinman.

Very good teaser!
Or there could have been two Davids and one wasn't cheating
I thought it was pretty good!
Igot the answer beceause I realized that it said young boy,but it didn't say that his name was David,so that concludes that the young boy and David are two different people.
