It was Valentines Day at Pelican High. Five boys named Adam, Jose, Isaiah, Frank, and John have secret sweethearts named Carrie, Grace, Laura, Mary, and Nellie. The five boys decided to pick a different number of blossoms and a different flower for their sweethearts.
The number of blossoms are: 3, 5, 8, 9 and 10.
The flowers are: Blazing Stars, Blue Vervain, Coneflowers, Prairie Clovers and Stiff Goldenrods.
Can you figure out the number of blossoms and the type of flower each boy picked and the girl to whom he presented the bouquet?
1. Adam picked exactly two fewer Blue Vervain than Isaiah picked of his flower.
2. Frank picked Stiff Goldenrods for his sweetheart. Nellie received nine blossoms from her beau.
3. Mary received fewer blossoms than the girl whose admirer handed her a bunch of Blazing Stars but more blossoms than at least one other young lady. Jose picked flowers for Laura.
4. Grace received the next-higher number of flowers than the girl who accepted Prairie Clovers but fewer blossoms than John's sweetheart.
5. Isaiah picked a bouquet of Blazing Stars.

OMG! I get to be first?
Much fun, and a bit harder than I'd first thought. Don't get complacent!

This is a bit too complicated. I can`t keep up!
(I like it anyway.)
(I like it anyway.)
it was good...harder than expected but thats ok with me.
especially since i got it!
especially since i got it!
Whew!!! That one strangled my braingle but it was much fun!!! I got everything but mixed up Grace & Mary. (but when i re-read the clues, I don't see how i made such a simple mistake).... That was a good one!
Very difficult and very much fun! As complicated as the flowers.
cool i used to do these in GT
I could not crack all of it I just could not figure out two of them, grace and carrie oh well, brain-exercising one !
If u like this one u might like the next two i put up but they have to accept it.
much fun. not hard, but stimulating and i like that
Got it on the second try. Good teaser.
oowwww hand hurts,GREAT ONE, but I think Laura should have gotten the most flowers *hint* keep those coming, I will be able to use hand again soon
Much harder than your apple one and your maine one, but still easy enough to be quick and fun.
Also got Grace and Mary mixed up on the number. "Next higher" can be interpreted in either direction I think. I took it to mean that Grace's number was lower. Otherwise, great challenge!
WOW That was harder than I thought.
This one was hard, but fun. Thanks for the challenge!
This was a lot harder than it seems to be. It took three tries before I got it right and I still can't figure out what I kept doing wrong! Good Job!
this one was good they are right too it was more difficult than it appeared at first .
I agree with suzieg..."next higher" can really be interpreted either direction and is most often associated with a lower number than the number in question. Otherwise, I really liked the premise of this puzzle! It was fun to figure out!
This was a great teaser! It wasn't too hard, but it wasn't really easy either. One of my favourites... good job!
I've done this puzzle before in a book. This one major copyright infrigment
well, it took me two tries but I got it! but I'm not so sure how people can claim that the "next HIGHER" number can "be interpreted either direction" and is "most often associated with a LOWER number" Huh? lol
Great job on the puzzle!
Great job on the puzzle!
I got it first try. I have to agree that "next higher" can only be interpretted one way...HIGHER! Just as 5 is the next higher # than 4. If Grace had the next higher # of flowers than the girl who got Prarie Clovers, then Grace had MORE than the boquet of prarie clovers.
I thought this was much easier than the rating implied it would be. Still very good. Thanks.
Really really really well done. I enjoyed this puzzle a lot. Keep it up
