I thought #4 was could/can... oops.
Super teaser. Happy Birthday brainster!
Super teaser. Happy Birthday brainster!
Great one, although #5 stumped me, keep these coming and a Happy Birthday to you
Thank you for your wishes people! I enjoyed it as much creating it, and now enjoying it even more
Great teaser...although there shouldn't be to "the's" in the first question. I'd correct it myself, but alas, do not have enought points!! Just pointing out the error.
*two*
Thanks for pointing out the error scm14, I have submitted the correction and hopefully it will get done in a few days time.
The last one could also be chore and work maybe
Couldn't for the life of me come up with the 2nd one. Still don't think I understand it Lock and close? The rest were fairly easy. Good job Brainster. Thanks for posting.
Drat, I couldn't get the last one! I love the concept..very clever.
I agree with Vitalstat on # 5 and find #2 a little off. I got it by default.
Pretty good teaser, it had me guessing for a while, but got really stuck on lock & close.
Too many possible answers! # 4 could also be could and can; and #5 could also be labor and work. 2
I only got three but signed in late.
Missed the last 2
Great teaser tho I liked it

I thought Lock and Secure but went with lock and close because it worked. I kinda agree with
Bradon on that one.
But good work anyway Thanks.

Very nice work! Nice puzzle, clever and fun! I just didn't get lock and close. great job!
Sorry to repost, but I disagree with karma48. #4 could not have been could and can because the teaser stated that the two synonyms in each sentence are not used with the same meaning. Can and could are the exact same verbs (one past one present) with the same meaning.
I don't get "lock" and "close" either ... would someone please explain?
Aren't you using "close" in 2 ways that sound differently - "kloz" & "klos". For the life of me, I can't remember what that's called. Still count?
Ripple, you're talking about homonyms.
I liked this teaser, but I don't really like the "lock" and "close" one because lock and close are not really synonyms of each other. Sometimes people use them that way, but their meanings really aren't the same.

Great teaser.
This wasn't a favorite, but it's probably my fault - and I don't want to complain - thanks for posting!
I found 1,2, and 3 easy, but couldn't get 5 at all. # 4 I thought you had switched to homonyms, which would have been crooked! When I saw the answer, I first noticed that the contributor was not American. Others' beans come in a tin, while ours come in a can, which I would not have thought of!
*Our beans come in a can, while others' come in a tin, which I would not have thought of!*--sorry, misplaced modifier!
Pretty good. Tough. Got most. I didn't quite understand it at first and was thinking the same word with two meanings. So I got lock/locked and can/can before seeing the first answer and redoing them!
Livigs, I fell for the same trick, and then applied the same process as yourself?
Turned out to be quite easy in the end.
