man i woould have never thought i liked it
I had 1 1 1 1 1 -> 1 for the first digit, and 1+1+1+1 for the second. Good though.
Cleaver!

2 isn't an odd number, that's why. But 3+5+7+-1 works....

and you can't use two odd numbers to add up and make another odd number...o.O
I agree this is a misleading teaser, but fun anyway
It's a trick teaaser!
Its supposed to be misleading!

That was a very good trick teaser. Got me stumped ;)
oh yeah i knew that!! but i still dont get it... oh well
cool teaser
thats only 4 odd numbers though...you said 5 in the question
That would've never crossed my mind. Good one
that was kinda boring maths bores me any way but the site is great
That was misleading. Good try though.
11+1+1+1 is only 4 numbers. 11 is a single, albeit double-digit number. As the question is written you cannot add together an odd number of odd numbers and get an even number.
THAT WAS CLEVER!!!
you are a sly fox!

Not a satisfactory answer. Please show your work.
OR...if you wanted to do it in less : 13+1
ok ... didnt get ur answer
I almost didn't get it. The two ones that make up the number 11 count. Ex. 1+1=11.
You got me!!! What two odd numbers make 11 - I even asked my grandson to help me - there are NO two numbers that make 11 - when I realized 11 is two odd numbers!!! GR8 Teaster
Tricked me
WHAT????!!!!!!!
That's only one number, the nuber 1, used 5 times. Doesn't work.
I was thinking 1+3+5+5...

to get elven you would ha to use 5 + 6. 6 ins't an odd number
Great teaser
mpj7337, maybe you're thinking of prime numbers, not odd numbers.
Shouldn't that be in math?
very clever.. i never would've guessed (hence math not being my strongest subject)
I thought it was 9+1+1+1+1. DOH!!
p.s. that equals 13
p.s. that equals 13
Also, for anybody who is not getting this, he used these numbers:
1,1,1,1,1. Took two 1's and turned it into 11. Thats the trick.

Basically what braingle said, 11 has two 1's in it, that's why it was a trick. I thought it was 5+9 because you used the number 5 in the question.
