Series
Series teasers are where you try to complete the sequence of a series of letters, numbers or objects.Series
What number comes next?
27 39 54 73 97 ...
27 39 54 73 97 ...
Hint
Double embeddedAnswer
127There are two series embedded in the first set of numbers: (Set A is the original series)
Set A: 27 39 54 73 97
First find the difference between each group of numbers...
39 - 27 = 12
54 - 39 = 15
73 - 54 = 19
97 - 73 = 24
This gives us a new set of numbers...
Set B: 12 15 19 24
Still no Pattern? Do the same thing again with set B.
15 - 12 = 3
19 - 15 = 4
24 - 19 = 5
Set C: 3 4 5
Now we see a pattern in set C.
Solution:
This equation gives us the next number in the series for Set B: x - 24 = 6 (x = 30)
which in turn gives us the next number in the series for Set A: y - 97 = 30 (y = 127)
This type of series problem is often found in I.Q. tests.

classic, straightforward, easy, but always fun. good job!
Very good, and easy to quickly figure. This is good for your first teaser. Add a little more to give others more to think about! Keep these coming!
exellent teaser, i loved that u gave the in depth answer, and it was pretty hard of a teaser too, good job!
I got the right answer, but my reasoning was much simpler.
27 + 12 = 39
39 + 15 = 54 second number + 3
54 + 19 = 73 second number + 4
73 + 24 = 97 second number + 5
The second number that you added on was always going up one each time after starting off going up by three from 12.
Okay, I probably explained it pretty horrible - maybe I'll just let the author explain it
27 + 12 = 39
39 + 15 = 54 second number + 3
54 + 19 = 73 second number + 4
73 + 24 = 97 second number + 5

Well done, DB.
its just a simple exponential eqation, whats the big deal with that?
