It's getting close to Halloween! Every year the ghosts of the underworld get together and have a big competition to see who is the best at scaring humans. Reporter Wilma Werewolf is writing an article about the top five competitors for her newspaper. She knows that each ghost has one skill they're very good at and another skill they are practicing.
However, because this is a big day for the ghosts, they are all very secretive about what they do. Wilma can only get a few sketchy responses to her queries. Help her find out where the ghosts will be haunting, what trick they specialize in, and what skill they are practicing for the big day so she can write her article!
Ghosts: Mr. Boo, Chuckling Charles, Morose Matthew, Neckless Nora, Petey Poltergeist
Haunting: Castle Dungeon, Crumbly Mansion, Stormy Lakehouse, Cursed Movie Set, Dark Tower
Good at: Laughing, Moaning, Panting, Sighing, Wailing
Practicing: Clanking, Footsteps, Knocking, Shuffling and Thudding
1) Word on the street is that the ghost who is good at moaning is learning to make eerie footsteps.
2) Whoever is haunting the Dark Tower is an expert at sighing, but seems to think making thudding noises is silly.
3) Morose Matthew wants to make clanking sounds as well as he wails, so Wilma thinks it's good for the actors' concentration that he doesn't haunt the Cursed Movie Set.
4) Petey Poltergeist told Wilma he saw Mr. Boo practicing how to knock.
5) Neckless Nora was raised to be a proper lady ghost, so she will never pant while haunting her family's Crumbly Mansion. She heard that one of her competitors, who loves to laugh menacingly, is studying shuffling.
6) Petey Poltergeist has been seen hanging out by the Stormy Lakehouse, but has never been heard to pant.

Nice treat...thanks.
I agree with Daystar... that was very clever and cute. I loved it; great job!!
Very cute...fun to do! Thanks!!
I like this teaser, even tho I did it when halloween is over. Only problem I had was with clue #2 which says that the ghost that thinks making thudding noises is silly... does that mean the ghost enjoyed it or thinks it's silly-stupid? that was the only clue that threw me off... Besides that - good puzzle...
Fun but easy...no need to go through clues more than once or use much brain power.
I seem to fill out the grid right but there is a next level to logically go to and I'll be damned if I can do it. My mind goes blank and I can't fill the empty boxes with intuition. Any ideas you can share with me either privately or here would be good as I've reached a plateau.
Or am I just not intelligent enough?

Smoooth filling out grid. Fun and engaging even after Halloween Good wording, not confusing. Txs for the fun
Moody: After filling grid w/clues, follow across row with a "yes" and see where the x's are in the other categories; then follow the yes in the other direction making x's in the same places.

Oh! I get it. Thanks Cat for your help. I'm actually improving. What if there are no "Yes's" in the puzzle? Anyone? I've only seen that a couple of times.

Fun and funny! Thanks for a good one!
Great teaser. Interesting how the ghosts wanted to learn a new way to scare people.
Good teaser, especially since Halloween is coming up again!
I thought chuckling charles was the laugher! But he wasn't!
