Hint
Knotting to it if you get the title...Answer
Alexander the Great. He was born in Pella, Macedonia, died in Babylon and was buried in Alexandria, Egypt. The Gordian rope knot (King Gordius) is a legend associated with Alexander. It is often used as a metaphor for an intractable problem, solved by a bold stroke; "cutting the Gordian knot" is to solve quickly any very complex problem or to get to the heart of a problem, the so-called "Alexandrian solution".Hide Hint Show Hint Hide Answer Show Answer

Simple, yet clever.
a little before my time
well done!
well done!
I knew it had to do with a greek myth of sorts. This really made me think but in the end I had to use the hint to finally get it. Thanks Old China Hand, I enjoyed this one!
I worked on this quite a while, even looked at the hint, but this one was outside my field of knowledge. Thanks for giving me something new. Excellent job.
Nice teaser. I got it from the Gordian knot clue but I didn't realise that Alexander was buried in Egypt. I knew of course about Alexandria but I thought that was named after his earlier Egyptian campaign. Well done!
Hmn...nice bit of info there...thanx
Wow. never wuld hav guessed. amazing!
I'm puzzled why this is in riddles and not trivia. Otherwise, it was interesting and well-presented.
