Joe went back to his hometown and met an old school friend he had not seen for years. His friend said, "I am married now but not to anyone you know. This is my daughter."
Joe turned to the little girl and asked her her name. She said, "I have the same name as my mother."
"Then you must be called Louise," said Joe. He was right, but how did he know?

I thoguht it might be his MALE friend may have told him: I will call my first child ....
Therefore the mother would by chance have the same name as the child.

Why don't people ever think that he might have a freined of the opposite sex? That was too easy, but fun anyway!

At first i didn't get why he wouldn't know, then I read the answer and realized that everybody would think that he was friends a a man.
Great teaser!!!
that was pretty good in my opinion.
It's kind of a rule that you shouldn't assume the person is a male. However, if you assume that the friend is a male, then another possibility is that had the daughter with another woman whom the other knew.
Even my pet slime mold got this one right.
Duh! I feel really stupid!!!
