Trick brain teasers appear difficult at first, but they have a trick that makes them really easy.Trick
There are two drinking glasses in identical size and shape. Both have the exact same amount of water poured into them, yet one is more full than the other. Both were empty to start. Both were filled with water in its liquid state. How can this be?
Hint
Did one have something the other did not?Answer
The one had a hole in the bottom, thus all the water ran out.Hide Hint Show Hint Hide Answer Show Answer

Or one had ice in it before adding the water?
I was thinking ice too.
i was thinking one of the cups got water in the form of ice
yeah, i think ice is just as correct as a hole in the bottom. dum me didn't guess either one!
I was thinking one had another drink mixed with the water
I thought there was a stone in one of them
I was thinking one of them had something else other than water in it too.
These are all great possibilitys and i am in the process of fixing it right now. Thank you for you feedback.

ohhhhh now i get what your name means
Is it really the same shape if there is a hole in one? Doesn't the hole change it?
Anyway, I was thinking ice as well.

I agree with empy. I don't think you can say that the glasses are the same size and shape and then say that one has a hole in it...
Ice would be a much better answer than a hole. A hole makes the glasses different.
i was thinking ice, not bad tho
hole is good too =D
hole is good too =D
I agree, a hole would give it a different shape.
I was thinking one cup was hot enough to evaporate away some of the liquid water.

Like the others, I disagree with the hole thing. Ice, yes. Or, that they were poured at different times, so that one had time to evaporate: yes, that could work, too. But a hole? That contradicts the givens that the glasses were identical.
I thought someone drank from the other glass. lol
i thought ice - cos ice is water - frozen - so it is more havier - tere for making it rise - but i didnt think o the hole one - i think both works tbh
I agree - if one glass has a hole in it, they are NOT identical in shape - a hole is a feature of shape. Now, if you had said that one glass of water was at 4º C. (the point of greatest density) and the other glass was either warmer or cooler, your statements would be true. The warmer (or cooler) glass would appear fuller.
No, none of them can have ice in them, it says they had nothing in them to start with. But I do agree about the hole.
C'mon people, get a life! The "hole" you're complaining about can just as easily have been a crack, which wouldn't affect the shape or size of the glass, and could still empty it fairly quickly.
I didn't think of that either, tho. I was going with boiling water, which steamed away a noticeable amount of water before cooling (much quicker than just a warm or hot glass!).

I was able to get the answer right off the bat but I agree, they are not the same shape if one has a hole in the bottom. You should have said someone spilled it or something.
I thought it was great. Nice job.
creative.. i liked it
I agree with everyone that the hole changes the shape of the glass, but the propblem clearly states that neither glass had anything in it and that the water was in liquid state.
But one glass did have something in it, a hole
Good point Mad-ade.
I was thinking that, as it only said that it was in it's liquid form when poured, one cup could have been placed in a freezer; and since ice is denser/more dense than water...voila!
Thought That The Other Had A Solid Object That Made The Water Rise So The Glass Is More full.
i thought it was ice too but it wasn't
Ha, i get it!!!!!!!!
That doesn't make sense because you said they were IDENTICAL in size and SHAPE. If one has a hole then they're not identical.
its common sense peeple!
I was thinking there was a cylinder in the glass that's what I saw in an illusion once.
she said they were poured with water in its liquid state so it couldnt be ice...i think the evaporated thing makes the most sense
I thought someone was drinking out of one of them lol
Funny and creative

I thought the same thing as oingo_boingo! Fun one!
there could have been another fluid that wasnt water like food colouring...
If one has a hole and the other doesn't, then they aren't identical in shape.
That's not the same shape! I thought someone drank from one after the water was poured. There was nothing saying that hadn't happened!
If one glass was place upside down then the water would not stay in it.
Thought one class was sitting in the other.
it would be funny if the first one spilled then that spilled over the second glass
Both glasses could have been identical and had the identic alamount of identical water added to each of them identically. It doesn't state anything else was not added except perhaps ice, so a simple straw or lemon slice could have been added to one glass and it therefore would have been "more full".
Then they weren't the same shape at all.....liar
