Newspapers around the world are having a field day and the Scientific community is all aflutter! Four archaeologists and a farmer have made some amazing discoveries that are sure to change the world as we know it! Unfortunately, after much study and analysis, only two of them have been proven to be real. Can you find who discovered what artifact, what their area of expertise is, and which ones were real and which were hoaxes?
1. The five people are: Max, Dr. Eureka, the one who specializes in Egyptian studies, the one who uncovered the skeletal remains of Big Foot, and Mr. Ali (whose find was actually written by his wife!).
2. The five artifacts are: Ms. Bones' discovery, the one found by the Paleontologist, Susan's hoax, the scroll describing the marriage celebration of Jesus and Mary, and an entire UFO with all the bells and whistles!!
3. A joint report issued by the U.S. Military and NASA stated, "Mr. Dirt is just not educated enough to have built such an amazing piece of machinery. We therefore conclude that it is in fact the real deal!"
4. "Big Foot, Big Lie!" and "Mummi Finds Guest List of Biblical Proportions!" were just two of the many headlines that were circling the globe.
5. Janet had been transcribing ancient Egyptian texts when she came across a soldier's eyewitness account of Moses parting the Red Sea.
6. Knowing that her funding was about to be cut, Dr. Eureka decided to sink some ancient Grecian pottery (that she had inscribed with the phrase "Petra of Atlantis") off the coast of Kythnos, an island south of Athens. "This is just as good a place as any other, I guess."

Have a lot of trouble deciding hoax vs. real about Mummi and Janet. Clue # 4 does not call Mummi a lier, and #5 does not say Janet is truthful. Is there another clue I am missing?
idk it took me awhile to gt it only bc my brother and his friend were arguing about bows
Very tricky! I had a tough time!
In response to the first comment, all you have to do is take NASA at their word (that was hard for me!). Number five is stated as fact, that Janet found it. Hers is therefore not a hoax. That would make all others hoaxes.
I thought it was fun!

just say the truth that was HARD
I enjoyed this one, tricky though it was.
I was confused because Alex can be short for Alexis or Alexandria as well as Alexander so I wasn't sure if Al was a boy or a girl. I finally guessed and got it right but I don't like guessing. There should be a logical way to figure it out.
Maybe adding a clue or hint as to who is male / female. I also had a hard time deciding some of the genders. Other than that - excellent puzzle.
Thanks for the feedback everyone! This was my very first logic grid puzzle Will add a gender hint as soon as I figure out how..
Mom, it was a great one for your first! Also, thank you for trying one hard and not just going the easy rout. Very refreshing.
I, too, had a difficult time determining if it was Janet or Mummi that were real. I also had a tough time finding the field of work. All I could get was that Alex was paleontology and Janet was Egypt, but I didn't want to assume that just because Eureka dumped the pottery in the ocean that she was nautical...

I have to agree that it is by far the hardest one I have done yet on braingle. I love a good challenge.
I had a hard time figuring out Mummi was male.
Good job for your first teaser Mom. As mocha said, thanks for not taking the easy route. Sometimes a table format of coulums and rows works better than the grid. I didn't use the grid.

Really enjoyed this teaser -
The logic grid thing doen't work
Great job for your first! I agree that there were a few assumptions that had to be made (ie: Eureka being nautical, and Mummi being religious) I liked that the gender was difficult to figure out.
Maybe my solution process will help others. 3 hoaxes: Mummi/scroll (clue 1 - written by his wife); Alex/Big Foot skeleton (clue 4 - stated as a lie); and Susan/pottery (clue 6 - sinking the pottery).
Clues 2 and 4 link Mummi/religion/scroll. Per clue 1, Mummi can only be Mr. Ali (therefore, male).
Alex Diggum's gender is not necessary to solve the grid.
My only pet peeve was trying to figure out what 'Ach' in Nautical Ach was. Nice puzzle, mom!

im need to come back to this one... a lil hard
Hmm...I actually didn't have too much trouble on this one, and normally I do! It just all clicked for me.
Very good, though; I like puzzles that have a few tricky spots, but aren't too bad. I really enjoyed the style of clues!

Great teaser...great fun! Congrats on your first logic grid. May I look for more of them from you? Thanks.
