Brain Teasers
Peggy's Purchase
Situation
Situation puzzles (sometimes called lateral thinking puzzles) are ones where you need to ask lots of yes or no questions to figure out what happened in the situation. These are good puzzles for groups where one person knows the puzzle and answers the questions.Situation
Can you figure out what is happening in this situation?
One afternoon while Peggy was at the grocery store, something caught her eye. She knew the item cost very little, but she didn't think there was any point in buying it. However, she still decided to buy it, but it resulted in her having to pay a lot more money than the original price.

Goood teaser!
I thought the third hint would have to do with Felix Felicis.
I do wish to raise a minor objection to the first hint. Wikipedia (which I'm going to trust for now) says that "Some governments outlaw [the lottery]." So, depending on where the teaser takes place, the first hint may or may not be fully accurate. (At least, I think...)
Overall, good teaser, though!

i knew it was the lottery!!!
Easy, but Fun!
Haha. I just spent a week in Vegas, with gamblers anywhere you turn.
This teaser was very simple.
Simple is good, because I'm suffering from broken logic at the moment...

That was difficult to work out for me as lottery winnings here are tax free. Nice teaser though
I got it when the hint said that it was her lucky day!
before reading the clue i thought that she bought some bad food, and payed for it with her health.
I had also thought some things were metaphorical until I read the hint. Then I got it.
Yeah I kept trying to find some trick in the phrase "caught her eye". That didn't work so well.
I guessed lottery ticket, so I was half right, because I didn't take it further and think about the taxes she had to pay. Good teaser. Thanks for posting.
I did not get the Lottery thing with or without the Hint. I thought the purchase was paid for with a Credit Card, having to pay more on the interest. I guess this was lateral thinking at its best? I did not use the Hint to figure the Situation. Confusing, yet well thought Teaser. The Lottery.
Another parochial teaser. In many countries outside USA lottery winnings are not taxed.
The "lucky day" part gave it away
Nice
Nice
I obviously thought taxes, so I go it partly....
I thought it was a film can and she had to pay later for the prints.
I thought it was a phone, computer or T.V. where you have to pay for the service.
But then that didn't fit with the hint!

Ya, i got confused! initially i thot lottery but then i read "nothing illegal" so i changed my mind. the third hint "lucky" re-changed my mind. I think you should kinda modify the first hint....it sent me off track. BUT awesome teaser!!
The hint gave it away for me there... Otherwise another great teaser!
I was confused, but as soon as it said lucky day it was easy.
