The Switch
Situation
Situation puzzles (sometimes called lateral thinking puzzles) are ones where you need to ask lots of yes or no questions to figure out what happened in the situation. These are good puzzles for groups where one person knows the puzzle and answers the questions.Situation
A boy was watching his neighbor's pet dog while the neighbor was on vacation. It ran out into the road and was hit by a car during its owner's trip. The boy got a new dog that looked just like the former one, but when giving the dog to the neighbor he was found out. How did the neighbor know that it was not truly her pet dog?
Answer
The original dog was a female and the dog that was returned to the neighbor was a male dog.Hide Answer Show Answer

Good one, had me stumped!
U sed the dog looks like the old one.
Thank you for your kind comments. And to supermew, yes I did. I should have said something like the new dog looked exactly like the old one to the boy.
A better answer to this would be that the dog did not follow the habits of the other.
pretty kool one...and to farrel i noticed that ur takin the mick out of evry1 else wen u aint dun nuthin urself!
Simpler answer, the replacement dog would not recognize the owners.
It could be one had surgery done to his throat and couldn't bark, and the other one could

It could have been that the owner saw the gross stuff in the road.
i thought it might of been because the owner found the dead dog buried in their garden........
That's stupid, how could you not know the gender of a dog you're watching? Wouldn't he have seen it go to the bathroom at some point?
I thought the old dog had a collar.
I thought it was becaue the old dog knew how to perform some tricks and the new one didn't.
Too many possible answers for me - I came up with the same one as Gizzer.
It definitely did not look the same then... I thought it could have been because it didn't answer to its name, wasn't housebroken, etc etc.
I think it was her brother.
If you've ever had a pet, not recognizing the difference even apart from sex is a bit of a reach. But assuming that, say, the owner was short-sighted, how about the dog not recognizing the owner? In The Odyssey, Odysseus returns home in disguise and no one knows him - except his old dog, who goes by smell rather than appearance. It's a moving scene and shows that even thousands of years ago people knew that dogs recognized their people by scent.
