Hmmm. I went with "way off course". I'm not a golfer, but I don't know if the cab of a truck driving down the freeway, or the bottom of a water hazard is considered a "lie". They are ending locations. I thought the lie is how the ball sets on the terrain in which it sits. Whatever. It was a novel interpretation of the term "lie" that made for an interesting lateral thinking puzzle.
Hey, Snowie ......
This definition (from the Oxford internet dictionary); verbatim and with example
"Golf The position in which a golf ball comes to rest, especially as regards the ease of the next shot.
'the lie, in deep rough on a bank, was not good'"
I know this only because I used to go golfing with my Dad (the original 'BadBunnee') and we sometimes did so with the local club Pro. I rarely played (back then there were separate 'rules' for women golfers - they even had their own tee-off that was closer to the greens) but I can remember them talking about 'good' and 'bad' "lies" ... and even sharing ridiculous stories thereof (in 'currently occupied' bird's nests, being carried away by raccoons, disappearing into gopher holes .... and such like).
Honestly ... (and I'm still laughing) I didn't expect this one to get through the Editor Thicket because of the unusual nature of the usage. But since my 'hit rate' of about one approval out of five or six submittals is quite low - by their standards, not mine - I shall continue to remain chary of too much jousting with them.

Excuse the double posting.
Brother Bunny BB02 (BadBunnee02) attempted to get a comment listed here (he has been restricted (.. HA HA ...'bad Karma') and couldn't do it.
So I accidentally did it here ... twice ...
Or .... something like that.
I hope the Eds don't get as confused with this system as we do ... even though they sometimes act like it.

Hey Jaye,
It's all good. If it didn't come through in my first comment, I did enjoy the teaser.
Even better were your stories of the raccoon and bird's nest!
