Brain Teasers
A Cure For Baldness
Riddle
Riddles are little poems or phrases that pose a question that needs answering. Riddles frequently rhyme, but this is not a requirement.Riddle
I would be bald without my first
Without my last, I quench your thirst
My odds, combined, used to convey
My evens, something first to say
What am I?
Without my last, I quench your thirst
My odds, combined, used to convey
My evens, something first to say
What am I?
Answer
the word "chair"Line 1: "without my first" = chair - c = hair
Line 2: "without my last" = chair - r = chai, a type of tea
Line 3: "my odds", my odd letters (letters 1, 3, & 5) = c + a + r = car

I like it, but how does hair make you bald?
Thanks xdbtcp. Glad you liked it. As submitted, the first line is supposed to read, "I cure baldness without my first". "My first" refers to the first letter of the answer word " chair".
You had the right idea, but poor execution.
I don't know... I'm a bit surprised this made it through. Hair is not bald. I think you kind of answered this in your comment, but still a real stretch. And ok, so chai tea is a drink, but not a very thirst quenching one. Not a very good way to describe chai. That one may be even more of a stretch.
Thanks for your efforts, and I'm glad we finally got a new teaser, but the editors should've been on this one a bit more to have you refine it before publishing.

The first line of the riddle, as I submitted it, was: "I cure baldness without my first". This means that hair cures baldness (i.e. hair resolves one's baldness issue). I have put in a correction to change this teaser back to its original (my) wording.
Nice one, it was quite mind-boggling!
Thanks xxrainkatxx.
Submitted a correction more than a year ago, still not corrected? I do notice, most users haven't logged in for 10+ years. Looks like the site is fading away, needs to invite more editors to keep it going.
