then complete the following:
ZERO - THREE = ?
ELEVEN - SIX = TWO, and:
EIGHT - FIVE = ZERO
then complete the following:
ZERO - THREE = ?
Answer
ONEFor each equation, the number of syllables in the number words to the left of the equal sign are subtracted from each other to give the number word to the right of the equal sign, which is the difference between the number of syllables in the other two words.
Thus:
ELEVEN - SIX = TWO ==> 3 syllables (in the word "ELEVEN") - 1 syllable (in the word "SIX") = "TWO" representing 2 syllables
EIGHT - FIVE = ZERO ==> 1 syllable (in the word "EIGHT") - 1 syllable (in the word "FIVE") = "ZERO" representing 0 syllables
and:
ZERO - THREE = ONE ==> 2 syllables (in the word "ZERO") - 1 syllable (in the word "THREE") = "ONE" representing 1 syllable

My first idea was the letter count which was pretty close to the answer! I couldn't figure it out though. Good riddle
