Crossnumbers
A crossword puzzle with numbers instead of words.
A Crossnumber (also known as a cross-figure) is exactly like a regular crossword puzzle, except that the solutions to the clues are numbers instead of words.
Clues are usually arithmetical expressions, but can also be general knowledge clues to which the answer is a number or year. Some clues may reference other clues, so you'll have to solve them in a certain order. A general strategy is to take a first pass at the clues and try to answer any of them that can be solved in isolation. Then, once you have some answers filled in, you can go back and look at the clues that reference those answers and see if you have enough information. In a difficult puzzle, you may have to cross reference multiple clues and answers at the same time to make a deduction about a particular answer.
