Brain Teasers
The Chest
Situation
Situation puzzles (sometimes called lateral thinking puzzles) are ones where you need to ask lots of yes or no questions to figure out what happened in the situation. These are good puzzles for groups where one person knows the puzzle and answers the questions.Situation
The small group of adventurers came upon a hidden room and went in. There was an old chest in the middle of a 20 ft. by 20 ft. room. The room contains only the chest. There are paintings of 4 animals with different scenes on the walls of the room. The floor and ceiling are made of marble stone. The room is covered slightly with dust. The paintings seem almost alive, and cause the hair on the back of your neck to stand on end.
There is a golden figure of a lion painted on the wall across from the door. It is standing in a field of grass, his emerald eyes seem to be staring right at the doorway.
There is an obsidian snake on the wall, left of the lion. The snake has ruby eyes, and it appears as if it will strike any moment.
On the wall to the left of the door is a white wolf. He is hunkered down as if he is waiting for the right moment to attack. The eyes are jade and small, and he looks hungry.
On the wall to the right of the door, there is an ivory dove in flight in a bright and clear sky. The dove seems peaceful in its flight.
The chest is 10 ft. in length, and 5 ft. in width. The chest is trimmed with silver and gold, and has several gemstones on it. On the top of the chest, there is some writing.
It says:
To open me, you need to choose.
If you choose wrong, then you lose.
They will come to life,
And make their strike.
Choose me, and I will not fight.
I will bring peace and not strife.
Which one should the adventurers choose; the lion, snake, dove or wolf?
(Once you choose, touch the painting and I will open.)
