The hint was good. But, if 155 is possible then 147 is not the maximum. How about Highest? I guessed it anyway.
This is the second (or third) time Snooker has "teased" me. I still haven't researched it. I will before it Sneaks me again. Good one.
Right! I think that "this could change" should cover this teaser (now).
A single break can only be 147!
Would you like to explain how you can get 155 in a single break please

147 is the maximum ammount possible from the value of the balls on the table. However it is possible that there could be a free-ball awarded, when no reds have been potted and a foul has been committed leaving your opponent snookered on all reds. You can then nominate a coloured ball to become in effect a red. You then pot this ( it is replaced on the table ) and follow it up with a black, thus giving you 8 points. With the potential to score another 147 points still avaliable to you.
Hope this clears things up

Good teaser
I remember watching Kirk Stevens get close to beating 147 back in the 80s, but he messed up eventually.

The highly unlikely event of someone scoring 155 in one break actually happened; in a practice frame in 2005, Jamie Cope did exactly what is described in phildunphy's comment - and rewrote snooker history in the process.
Still, a good little teaser. I like a bit of the ol' snooker.

I have a feeling that someone has bettered 147 recently in a proffessional match ! But not a 155
