Brain Teasers
The Shipwrecked Pirate Crew
Shipwrecked we are, once a proud crew,
Evening finds us, stranded and few;
Victory was ours, but now has its cost,
Even so, we must count the lost.
Now we see, only several have survived,
To think our crew, at thirty arrived,
Everyone at rest, we must ask you,
Engage in the counting, how many are the few?
Now I have given the clue, it's all up to you.

Hint
Did I mention,That you take attention,
To the word I say,
Concerning the survivors that day?
Answer
If you did not click,The head's off at a flick,
Of my cutlass so sharp and keen,
If you did not see seventeen;
My words merely distracted you,
The answer lay in plain view,
In the form of the first letter of each line.
And to the ones with observant eyes,
I hope we will meet on the sea, beyond the skies.

no clue what you are talking about
O haha it is a bit confusing
Cause the answer is in rhyme
(And also cause I made it up)
Ok basically it's asking how many people survived the shipwreck (it told you to count)
But the words never told you, except the first letter in each line spelled out "Seventeen", which was the answer

Well...I didn't solve it. But it was very interesting. Double Thumbs Up

And now fer a Real Pirate's response:
Arr! That was good, fer teasers rhymed,
Rhythm great and nicely timed,
Really now, I liked it much.
I liked the rhymes, I care fer such!
Loved that teaser, clever done.
Oh, I will rate it Number One!
"Very good" I says with glee,
"Excellent!" it gets from me!
I'll write me own like it, indeed!
Truly fun, and writ with speed.

Fantastic piece!
Wow, that was a really clever and well rhymed teaser!!! I almost didn't get it until I looked at the hint and realized that the answer was just somehow hidden, and then it just popped out!
Nice rhyming too, Radioguy

Remember National Talk like a Pirate Day? It was just a few weeks ago. Nice riddle. A bit confusing though.

Haha thanks everybody, nice rhyming radioguy
I found this to be well written and really not hard if you have been with briangle for awhile. You begin to look for clues.
Nice rhyme, but confusing in that I was trying to relate it to an event or place that really happened or existed. I saw seventeen, but that didn't relate to anything, so I overlooked it. Good job, thanks for posting.
Wow someone should have been a poet!!
Didn't get it, didn't like it. Sorry
Great teaser. I counted "the lost" and thought it was 7. Good one!!!!
woo hoo!! i got it... iread it over and over then thought "look at the first letters" then it hit me !!!
good one!!!
good one!!!
I didn't like it. I get it. Seventeen is evident. But it wasn't any fun. Such a nice rhyme. It would be nice if it really did have some clues to actually solve it rather than just look at the first letter of each line. How does that stimulate your brain? Stick with poetry..you're good. But riddles, not so good. Sorry
It was ok. Like bradon said, I too was trying to fit it to something that actually happened...
ok thanks for comments, if I have time I'll make another one... hopefully harder
Occasionally, I look at the initials. I did it this time...and it worked!
Tricky Hobbit.
Tricky Hobbit.
That was tricky teaser, but I got it.
Good job.
Good job.
Didn't get it, and still don't.
17 what? Is that the name of a ship, or the number of survivors or dead in a shipwreck?
No idea. Sorry. Nice rhyme though.

Arr matey. I walked the plank on that one. Great rhyme.
Yarrrr you mean your head got cut off?
Err 17 is the number of people who died because of the shipwreck

I didn't get it, but oh so clever!
Loved this teaser!

WTF?????
Ohhhh... I get it! But only after reading the comments, and then re-reading the teaser (at first I was like "whaat...?") Cute and different!
The most senseless teaser I have ever read. So you made it up, is that supposed to make us not think the worst? Sorry, it is pretty lame!
I thought it was a very clever teaser and quite well written. I didn't get it, but I liked it. I was looking for something "hidden" in the rhyme. Thanks for a good one! Hi to my PA and CT friends!
Same comment as my original, but I'd like to see something new. Have a great day LADIES.
Didn't like it. The rhyme had nothing to do with the answer. Not stimulating, as someone else said: just lame.
I guess you are talking about the Apollo missions? One in particular.
Or the space missions in general?

Still didn't get it, still didn't like it. Hi to good friends from far away.
Really enjoyed it, it was very fun,
I got it in seconds, about 301,
Didn't check the clue, but later I read it,
Did people find it helpful? I gave it no credit,
Looks like I wrote this, as if it would rhyme,
Acrostic poems don't really interest me though.

Really didn't like this teaser, but Kipah's comment thoroughly entertained me! So, it's all good!
