Whatever Way the Wind Blows
Logic-Grid
Logic Grid puzzles come with a handy interactive grid that will help you solve the puzzle based on the given clues.Logic-Grid
I have five very strange neighbors. Each has a favorite type of weather forecast and a different favorite color. I can never keep them straight on my own so I have a little system. I joined our neighborhood beautification society. On everyone's door my society members and I placed a flag that corresponded to that person's favorites whatever they were. The heavy winds that struck yesterday blew the flags into other yards. Can you figure out who the flags belong to using the facts that I remember?
1. No one has a name that corresponds to their weather, starts with the same letter as their weather forecast or starts with the same letter as their last name.
2. My five neighbors are: The one who likes rain, the one who likes gray, Mr. Cumulus, the neighbor who likes orange, and Danny.
3. Miss Martinez hates rain. The person who likes orange has an "o" in their last name.
4. Reynolds has fond memories from the US Air Force so that's where he gets his favorite color and because he was a pilot he knows the importance of strong tails.
5. The person who loves snow (who isn't Wendy), hates its color. The person who loves white (which isn't Cumulus) is fond of precipitation which helps her gardens. Both Wendy and Cumulus hate the color orange.
6. J.C. hates sunshine and in between colors whereas Jones prefers the pleasant, overcast days.
7. When the guys on either side of me play football they play in their favorite colors which are orange and blue.

Good one, keep em coming.
Thanks smarty! Glad you liked it.
Certainly not a breeze for me: it took me 5 tries but I finally got it.
i didn't think it was that bad chaskey!
Just a question-- are we to assume that Wendy is similar to Windy and therefore Wendy does not like the Wind?
Similarities are definate but if I told you that would give away something so I plead the fifth.
Somehow I can't find anything to differentiate the two girls by either color, name, or weather. In all cases I came down to two possible weather/color combinations that could apply to either.
I did not like this one at all. There were way too many assumptions necessary. I did not have any problems with the wendy/wind thing, since both start w/ "W" it was ruled out anyway. But, everything about the airforce was based on assumptions! (just because he understands the importance of a good tail wind, doesn't mean he loves windy weather!!) Assumptions are not logic!!
It has recently come to my attention that there are those who do not like to infer things based on what they read. Are wwe not taugt from an early age the importance of Reading Comprhension and inferences.
Logic is a broad concept for no two people think alike. While i am sorry that my teaser does not please everyone, I must simply state that what I have created is a puzzel that makes sense to me and tries to accomodate those who choose to attempt to solve it.

I don't like this one either! I think this "puzzle" requires too many assumptions to be made too early on without well supported clues. Also the fun factor was eliminated with the cris-crossing of the names & weather types.
I couldn't differentiate between the two girls either. If someone can point me to the clue that would help with this, please feel free to e-mail me.
Nevermind, I found it.
Change that -- I had it wrong. This one didn't work for me. Sorry.
a bit too muffled for me but hey, to each his own
1. Couldn't differentiate between the girls.
2. Too many assumptions.
3. How the hell am I supposed to know the Air Force color?!?!?!
Other than that, good teaser, but it could REALLY be improved.
Oh, yeah, and I agree with your comment that no two people think alike, HogwartsGirl.

By the way, I liked your hint.
I don't believe it I GOT THEM ALL!!!!! GREAT ONE, Keep those coming maybe I will get another one right
Thanks for all your comments thus far! I am so glad that the general feeling is that you like this teaser. I will do my best to get more out within the next few weeks. Thanks again everyone!
I was not to pleased with this one. Although it has potential to be fun, and I was clear on the wind/wendy thing, I don't know the air force colors, and many things were to vague. I little improvement, and it could be great. Can't wait to see what you'll do next. Try to be a little more clear, if possible.
Please tell me what clue you used when you got the girls both names right
I'm sure glad that clue 7 was redundant! (I don't know from sports )

ppl said this has too much assumptions to make but i found out all are on logical basis. BUT i hope some1 will improve the teaser (needed clue on the girls' surnames confusion) so ppl can enjoy it better.
I keep trying to change it but no matter what I do the teaser doesn't get corrected.
Congratulations for those who got it and I apologize to those who were confused.

It was a good puzzle but I do not see anyway to tell the difference in the last names of the girls.
I am new to the site, but I loved this one. I had no confusion - some people need to learn that there are times when you have to read the clues more than once.
way too difficult i will try later
not that it really effected the puzzle, but what are "in between colors"?
The only assumption I had to make was about the tails clue. I did not know the air force color, but it made sense to me with the clue. I was able to determine who the women were without the clue and the rest no problem. The only thing I would have chaged was to clarify in the first clue when you are talking about first and when you are talking about last names. Some of the other unclear stuff was not needed anyway (in between colors), so it was not a problem. Thanks!
Same here, beside the tails-hint everything else was Logical ... for me at least ;)
