Or they were doing a science project on Kool Cigarettes, or the were doing a music project on Kool and the Gang, or ... Not really so trick - y, is it?
As stated above, there are too many Kools today but nice job anyway.
No teacher would have them to a project on cigarettes. I didn't even know there was such a thing. That's the most disgusting, ridicoulous thing I'v heard in my life. Sure there are a lot of cools, but braingle is a NON-DRUG website so they would never let it in, and I would NEVER even TRY submitting a drug-related brain teaser.
Very funny!
(CoolCow would submit a comment about drugs, though, none the less. )
This seems, believe it or not, to be higher up on the difficulty scale, compared to some trick teasers.

coolcow, relax, a kid could be doing a story on various brands of cigarettes, and how many of them used names that might appeal to younger customers. The point of the paper would be to raise awareness of how bad the products are. that would fly in most schools
or even, if you want to stay with the science experiment, testing different types of cigarettes to see which has the most niccotine, tar, etc. ps if you want that "no drug" related rule to be perfect, we should remove all the caffine, sugar, or asprin (etc) related teasers too (for example this one on Kool-Aid). chill out.
Chill out, CoolCow. I thought it was a good teaser, though , KOOL brand cigarettes WAS the first thing that came to my mind. Anyway, good teaser.
I supposed both the kid and the teacher were fans of Kool and the Gang!
Not too interesting. The answer didn't "hit me" like a teaser should.
ohhhh i thought the K-O-O-L stood for kinsman old oranges lactoseintolerant but your solution makes much more sense but no offense

"it was like a average performance. to make it you have to stand out from the others in the crowd but you sounded like a dad singing at a karoke bar or at a wedding it was a really average performance"

Well I liked it! Good job.
A plastic apparatus made to resemble lungs. White sponges on the inside and a tube with a plastic clamp designed to hold a cigarette. The cigarette is lit and the lungs are squeezed. The apparatus literally smokes the cigarette. The sponges go from bright white to a very ugly yellow. From only one cigarette no less.

I thought it was an English class and they were supposed to be making rebuses. He wrote "KOOL," a rebus for "look back."
