Brain Teasers
Dear Watson #1
If you like your Physics and you like your Chemistry,
You will find this puzzle, as easy as can be.
Firstly, from a glass of milk, take what is good for bones.
Second take the metal used to glaze pottery with pretty tones.
Thirdly you might eat me to get your innards on a slide;
Last I am a diode in a "crystal-set" just look inside.
Now put us all together, and thus what can be seen?
A great big head? ; A large white moth? ; A vegetable that's green?
What am I?

My physics and chemistry needs a LOT of work - I only got calcium
"A vegetable that's green" was a dead giveaway.
which vegetable is green and starts with Ca....? & there u have the answer

I luv it cuz I luv Chemistry. I luv science. [im one of the few.]
good one but i need to work on that kind of stuff
Happy Fourth of July
I, too, only got calcium. The rest was a mystery. I second Coachpisco's comment. Happy 4th of July.
Believe it or not, I never took chemistry - not in high school or college!!! So this one stumped me royally!
That's a GD thing ... keeps me humble!

Well, this one really stumped me.Like the others, i got Calcium and nothing else. It was a really great riddle, though.
Happy 4th!
Happy 4th!
And here I thought I would never need my chemical and physics training, for anything, but work! Keep up the Unique And Mind-bending fun
I did not get it
HAPPY INDAPENDANCE DAY!!!!!!!!
HAPPY INDAPENDANCE DAY!!!!!!!!
I got it. Good teaser!
Who Knew!!!
Guess I really need to study my sciences, got calcium though.

I don't get it happy 4th of JULY
wonderful teaser i got calcium but was lost on the others
me again have a safe and happy fourth of july happy independence day
Only got calcium, was never any good at physics/chemistry so this one stumped me, good for my onlybrain cell tho` LOL
im too stupid to get this teaser
i knew calcium but dont get the whole Ca thing...oh well happy 4 of July!

I'm not exactly a scientist so I didn't quite understand this teaser !!!
HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!
HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!
Only got the Calcium one, but Great job. Have never seen one like this before. Happy fourth of July!
Happy 4th of July!!!!!!!!!
Nice teaser. Had to recall some almost-forgotten chemistry/physics stuff. Could get the correct answer, though not in a satisfactory way! Happy 4th July to all!
A good bit of work went into this one. Fine job and fun too.
And a grand 4th of July to all my America cousins and friends.
And a grand 4th of July to all my America cousins and friends.
Excellent! I got calcium, germanium, but only tried tin, lead, cadmium for the glaze.
Nice job!
Nice job!
I only got calcium but i the hint was slightly wrong. sherlock holmes never says "elementary my dear watson"...only "elementary". found in "the crooked man" and "elementary" is only stated once in all of the sherlock holmes' mysteries. but the teaser was great!
Ooooh, too tough for me!
Like most of the others I also got calcium, but then a funny thing happened. I got a big case of the duhs - - - . Never had chemistry so couldn't process most of it. Oh well, a day late and a dollar short. I hope everyone had a bang up 4th. BTW jimbo, it was a great teaser. Nice job.
This one was one that made me think. I did not find the answer. Might have if I tried longer? Very neat teaser.
Irishgirl, I take your point that the phrase "Elementary my dear Watson" did not appear in any of the Sherlock Holmes books but it was the concluding quote in the 1929 Film "The Return of Sherlock Holmes" and it has become a well known phrase associated with SH through this and other movies.
Very difficult for me. I know very little chemistry. I got only Ca. After reading the comments I see how this is a major clue in itself. An excellent, challenging teaser. Made me think and work and learn a bit about glazes and crystal sets for over an hour. The research didnt help. Thinking about Ca might have. Please keep teasers like this one coming! Thanks!
I really liked that one. I didn't know all of it, but I got the answer anyway. I had CAxBAx. Assumed it must be cabbage so had to be Boron and Germanium. Boron seemed reasonable, but I had no idea Germanium was in diodes. Nice to learn!
I guessed this one rather quickly, even though, the 'Cabbage-White' is a butterfly, the cabbage moth is actually a dark grey?
