Who Will Fall, and Who Will Leaf?
The grammatical faux-pas in the title is simply a poorly construed pun. I was, for no truly explicable reason, thinking about how the leaves would change color soon, as during each autumn season, and was for equally inexplicable reasons inspired to create a WTB based on that idea, hence the words "fall" and "leaf" in the name of the game. Fortunately, they are somewhat related to the idea of departing the workplace. Consider this a WTB: Fall Edition!
Further information and rules will be availability shortly. Please feel free to share your thoughts and preferences on any special themes, roles, clues, or other features you would like to see! I will try my best to incorporate any reasonable requests/suggestions from you.
If you are not on my Friends list and are interested in playing, please add me to your friends list; I should respond within approximately 12-16 hours. Feel free to PM if you prefer, although I receive notifications for both so that will not generate a faster response (but I certainly won't take it personally if you want to join without friending me!). WTB experience is preferred, but it is more important that you actively participate when possible (of course real life takes priority) and are respectful of others.

I'll be first to sign up. Get things going.
Hi demo and GA. Sounds like an interesting game.

Hello GA, froggy, and Hadleigh - and of course welcome to the game and thanks for joining!
Hadleigh, my own expected access to internet notwithstanding, I hope the game will be over in four weeks, too.
Would anyone like to make any requests for having clues (clearing, identity of Rat and/or Boss), special roles, firing immunity, or anything else?

Hey Hadleigh!
Actually, I really like the name of the game: Fall/Leaf. It would be crazy if everyone had to put one crazy pun in each of their posts.
As far as requests, I actually would rather have firing immunity in some way as opposed to clearing clues. When we have clearing clues, it is an open invitation to the Boss to go out of their way to fire any cleared player since cleared players cannot be framed and take the suspicion off the real Boss.

Hello Everyone! I'm in too.
I usually shy away from 2 day games, but this has such a great group of players that I couldn't resist!
Also the only other good alternative has braingle01. *Shuder* Why does that player even join games, since they never participate? But all that matters is that we participate. And bring down the boss. Unless of course yours truly makes boss! Hee hee!
4demo - Boss/Rat clues seem best since clearing clues get employees fired! But some people like clearing clues too. Oh, and despite being a very terse boss myself, it might not be a bad idea to have a minimum word requirement for the Psych Answer. I'm looking forward to whatever you might come up with!

I usually oppose clearing clues. I don't particularly like them, and it's a lot of work for you to just have them fired before it's even solved.
I rather like the sound of immunity possibly, but if you were to have immunity, there would be no upside for the boss.
So immunity and no clues altogether, or maybe just one boss clue. Possibly throw in a rat clue, but I kind of like a challenge in order to receive immunity from being fired.
Of course people can oppose my ideas, but that's the way I look at it.
I don't think we need clues personally. If you have good psyche questions then they're all the clues we need.

So much for staying away from WTB. My excuse to myself for joining this game is that the rounds are two days long, so it won't take up too much of my time...
Oh, who am I kidding? I wanted to play, so I did. Hello.
Perhaps we can come up with the psych questions ourselves?

How does the following sound?
There will be no clearing clues, applicable to employee, Boss, and Rat identities.
There will be a "special role" based upon the Speaker of the House position found in jtolley's latest TWG, with several changes. The position description would be as follows (parenthetical remarks highlight changes from the Speaker position and are 'geared' toward those who played in or followed the TWG):
1. In the first round, the position will be assigned to a random player using a random list generator. It may fall to the Boss or the Rat. Each new round, the position falls to the person with the most constructive game-related posts (if you make a post completely about your job frustrations or your new kitten, I'm afraid that won't count; likewise, "I agree ___ might be the rat" is not very 'constructive'). Trust me, I won't be as strict as it may sound! Just don't post for the sake of posting.
2. The person holding this position will be given the option to provide firing immunity to one other player besides him or herself, effective that round (keep in mind that mandatories cannot be saved). No one person may receive immunity more than once per game, not even for non-consecutive rounds; if all players left have already been protected in a previous round, this power becomes void.
3. The person holding this position is also allowed to ask a psych question to the Boss the following round. If no question is provided, the moderator will provide one instead. If a psych response is unsatisfactory beyond doubt (for instance, I ask "Please discuss a memorable childhood memory" and the response is "i ate at a special place," I will consider that unsatisfactory; something like "I had ice cream while on vacation for my sixth birthday" is perfectly fine), I will provide a clue to the identity of the Boss.
Suggestions for improvement are always welcome.

I have a question...
On number 3, you say the "person holding this position". Is that the randomly assigned person? Because that means they are the ONLY one who chooses a psyche question.
I suggest the person being immune from firing could choose the psyche question?
I like the no clues idea, unless the boss fails to satisfy the employees with their psyche answer.

Sounds great, I can't wait to get started, can't everyone PM their friends and get us some more players?

About the Psych question: The person with the special role (I need a name for this) is the one who would propose a question, under the current system. I am perfectly happy to allow players to create questions, but I would prefer to have a single question per round, and not a large bank from which to choose (difficulty selecting one not only because multiple may be excellent questions, but for the sake of not 'offending' anyone). Would you prefer to designate the immune player as the psych questioner, or randomly select a different, second player entirely for that purpose?

Hello all. This should be interesting. I'm not terribly used to 2-day rounds, so excuse me if I say too much. (At least we should be able to have some feisty competitions for the "Special Role") Does rambling count as "constructive"?
If this has already been answered then I apologise, but how many times can one person hold the "Role" in total and how many times consecutively?
Why didn't the Libertarian cross the road?

I actually forgot to address that. The rules technically stipulate that the position falls to the person with the most posts, but that could result in one person having the position the entire game, a monopolistic system I'd like to control. I'm going to say for now that there will be a maximum of twice per player for the entire game, but each consecutive round, the role must change hands. For instance, A could have the position in round 1, B in round 2, A in round 3, C in round 4, D in round 5, B in round 6. If needed, I will look at second, third, etc. most posts.
Is this okay with everybody?
Edit: If not implied by common sense / courtesy, double posts are not permitted. If any player makes two or more consecutive posts, the point for the original will not be awarded and each additional post is -1. The sole exception is if somebody decides to save one post to maintain a voting list; this will have no impact on the post count.

That sounds fine to me. The only problem I could foresee would be if it was forfeited to an inactive player, but I doubt there will be that many inactives nor that the game would be long enough to cycle through all the active players. Should be good. I just hope I get a hand at least once. Even if I blow it terribly. Ha.
Why didn't the Libertarian cross the road?

It seems great, maybe the "role" could be the title of 'Press Secretary' or 'Public Relations Officer', I know, I know, pretty boring I'm not really good at thinking out of the box.

I like how both of those have to do with the office theme, and out of the two I'd pick Public Relations Officer. I thought of one too, but it fits the theme a bit less, unfortunately. I was thinking "Motivational Speaker". Not only is it a play off the phrase "Speaker of the House", but it describes what the duties would be - largely encouraging and guiding the players. Motivational Speakers do sometimes go into the office environment as well to encourage employees, so it's not a huge stretch, but it is a bit silly, I must admit.
Perhaps they could be a "top dog" or a "substitute boss", reflecting their leadership abilities, not their villainy (though that depends). Of course, we don't have to name the position. TBA would be a lovely title. Haha. Sorry, sorry. A stupid joke. I'll just be over there ....

A sudden, very random burst of inspiration, for lack of a better word... Does anyone mind calling the position Humpty Dumpty (the whole 'fall' theme and all)?

Hello again 4demo and the rest.
The Humpty Dumpty concept sounds interesting. I guess there are rules about the Psych question that it shouldn't be too obvious, like what is your braingle username. Anyway, we will see how the game goes.

I guess I won't mind, just as long as no one calls me "Humpty Dumpty" outside the game!
Since we only need another four I took the liberty of inviting a few. Hopefully the game can start up soon.

Ah, but what if the boss were brave enough to take that and give the answer but in such a convoluted way that only the best clue-solver could find them? Of course, if it weren't a difficult clue, they'd be sunk.Since we only need another four I took the liberty of inviting a few. Hopefully the game can start up soon.

Hello everyone, and thanks for joining!
Krishnan, for what it's worth, please be assured I will neither explicitly ask for a username myself nor approve a question that does in the psych response (unless, of course, you happen to be the Boss). But in the impossible chance it does occur, just remember that honesty can be found where least expected sometimes... An excerpt from the Boss's memo in a WTB I was in:
(I was, of course, the beloved Boss. )

You plea was just too grand Caberet... I am here
But it may take me a bit to come up to speed on the rules!
Ok, unless something has changed, I am up to speed.
Question - in a way... you mention penalizing double posts; but beings this is a 2 day game it is quite possible that someone could post at 10 at night, then sign on in the morning and no one has said anything. It's occurred several times in the past - especially after round 4 or so. Though it looks like a double post, it really isn't the posters' fault for the night time inactivity of the other players - and seems like they should not be penalized for trying to keep the comments going?? Chance of putting a 4 hour time period between double posts as being acceptable?

I actually wrote out a rule about that before deleting it under the assumption/hope that inactivity wouldn't be a concern among the players assembled here. (It's a compliment. ) But since that is a realistic possibility, I'm going to say there's a three-hour period after which a double post is acceptable provided. I'm not quite sure what exactly one would have to add after nobody else has spoken up that couldn't be put in as an edit, but I'm sure something will come up. (Note: If your first post is two sentences long and has no edits, there really is no need to double post.)

Is Chang boss often?
By the way, since Juliana couldn't make it she wished that we have a good game. For her sake let's hope the boss shows up. Since it started in the afternoon (or later depending on time zones) the boss might not have seen it yet and will send in the memo when they get up. I just hope it's not JLP, she hasn't been on in 3 days.

Ok boss... everyone has been on today except JLP1.. its okay to clear one person - fire them the first chance you get. Let's get this game started.
How do you know it's not the mod... it' kinda late to start the round IMO... be back tomorrow, work is gonna be boring.

Hi All, sorry I havn't been around, I'm South African and we had a long weekend so I had no internet access. I hate to break it to all of you but I'm not the boss. Whoever the boss is, is very clever leaving the memo for this long cause it makes me look guilty as sin. I hope they don't take to much longer cause with the crowd we have this is going to be an awesome game!
