Hi. Private to keep out inactives. If you're active at least once a day PM me to join.
Plot: The rat has hired his/her assistant (the boss) to kill people for them. However, the rat cannot do anything if the boss is gone, so the safety of the boss is most important for them.
The boss is trying to kill (fire) the employees (citizens). The employees can unseat the boss if the majority vote for him/her.
Rules for this game:
1. The boss and rat have a TB and the boss knows who the rat is. You might say it gives them an advantage since they can discuss but statistically the boss wins 28% of the time so this may make it more even.
2. The first poster each round gets a clearing clue. The second poster (not double post) gets a 1/4 chance of a boss or rat clue.

Hey, this seems like it'll be the easiest WTB to join tbh.
Flight Rising is great and all, but I've been on a year and I still don't understand how people manage such gorgeous dragons.

Hi Angel

Chemistry is awesome!
Not again. I've been trying to get this game started for months and the players are getting split 3 ways because of the other games. Why do we have to have so many rival games?

I wish we could limit it to 2 at a time, but idk if we can get everyone behind that idea.

If people could stop being so clannish and take turns modding we could probably pull everyone together. If I'm not mistaken, I'd also assume that some players aren't playing right now, possibly because of summer vacation.
In the past limiting the amount of games would have seemed a blow to our freedoms, but nowadays we have so few players it's certainly possible. However, there would always be problems with that - a) Jake would have to build some new system and I don't know if that's gonna happen, b) how are games/mods decided - will it be first come, first serve? If so what would be stopping IFB using two accounts to clog the system? If it's based on merit how would that be chosen? That would mean more systems to create for our deistic little site.
Now we're stuck working with each other and waiting. Why not make a list of who can mod when and keep it upon ourselves to abide by the list? Can anyone make large talkboxes, anymore? We could then invite WTB players and modders and set up such a system.

There could be a forum thread, maybe? And we could have a queue where any game setup would have to be made and then brought up in a list after each 2 games. Maybe 2 forum threads, one for discussion and the other for games where all the info would be posted and when ready to be made into a game, the post could be deleted that way everyone would know who was next.
All of this could be done as this site is now (except maybe people might make a game and then become inactive, but hopefully we'd all agree to ignore that game), but idk if anyone else would be into the idea.

I've just set up a talkbox with several different topics including an official list of mods as well as other topics that could help with discussion between groups. Look for it in the Public Talkboxes. As of now I can only invite 10 people, but if anyone who could invite more could host a Box, I think we'd have a good system.
A forum system would be good because the whole thing would be public, one wouldn't have to worry about limits, but players could be recommended and invited into a TB rather than hope they can find the topic, they could have multiple topics without worrying about clogging up the forums, and it would easier to monitor who should be on friends' lists and not.

Well with forums there'd only be a few topics, so I don't think it'll clog it up too much, but it might be a hassle to keep it bundled together for easy access. Obviously the bigger problem with talk boxes is we can only have 10 people (unless we're lucky with someone who can make a bigger talk box).
We could also outsource all this to another site, but then quite a few people wouldn't be sure whether or not to trust links. The biggest advantage to this option is that everything could be easy to manage. Any other suggestions?

Although there are less and less people going on this site any more, I wouldn't count out kind-hearted subscribers just yet. I do believe some are still active and I think some still play WWG/WTB (such as Froggy, I do believe). Some years back Mad Ade was kind enough to give lend me a TB, so there's always a possibility. And if not, then we just make two talkboxes to contain all the current WTB players.
Rather than just a list, I'd rather build up the WTB community and try to bring us all together, kind of what I was trying to do with the tournaments. If players were invited to a single talkbox they could converse about multiple subjects and trade ideas on game mechanics and give constructive criticism on modding.
Off-site forums may be easier to create with less restrictions, but it'd be better to create something here instead. Not only is safety an issue, but I bet there are plenty of players who wouldn't care to leave the site. Going to this site every once in a while is a routine and they wouldn't want to go to some site they don't know, where users may have different usernames and everything is unfamiliar and where you'd have to go to a different site to play the game. The only real upside of off-site boards would be the fact that there's a possibility of attracting outsiders to Braingle. I'd still like to manage the current Braingle players first, though.
If I were Cub I'd consider talking to some of the other mods directly. A combined game would be the first step to a more integrated WTB community. Maybe they could even try co-modding or something.

Hello. I was on braingle years ago when certain people were ALWAYS mods... and there were enough players around who would eagerly join those games over and over because those mods hosted fun games where people interacted and enjoyed themselves. Things are different now - fewer players, more people wanting to take turns moderating.
I'm of the opinion that a player who wants to mod needs to just go for it. If you build it, they will come, so to speak. But having every game set to private discourages new players who aren't bold enough to beg to be let in. That's why my recent games were open to the public. There are fewer lurkers, and it encourages new players to give it a go. My two cents, I guess.
Anyway, I almost joined Sonic's game, but when I saw that he wants 20 players AND 2 day rounds, I bailed. A long sign-up period followed by long rounds? No thanks. I like games that move quickly.
I'm here. So. Yeah.

Wow. You've got a point with Sonic's game. Steven's 2-day game didn't work too well and Sonic expects to get 20 people on top of that? That's an odd choice. I wonder how many of the players there have realized that yet.
Are there even many newbies willing to play anymore? I hardly see newbs ruining games like they used to but maybe I just haven't been looking at public games. I think it's hard to get players now in general so as much as I'd love for people to just build a game and get others to join, it may either take several months to start or not happen at all. We should try and fix that if possible.
Interestingly, if everyone currently signed up to play WTB joined either this game or Hydra's game then we'd be ready to start.

Yeah, 2 day rounds are long. People please don't leave. I've been trying to get this started for months. And LR I am not deleting this game.

I am taking off until 1/8. (1st of August not 8th of January) Not much to do there. Supposed to be a holiday, but doesn't sound that fun. Hopefully they have free Wifi. If not, I'll try to get online every day. Shouldn't use up all my 250MB 3G with luck.

There's another game now. Can't we all just join one darn game. Why is it so hard to come to an agreement on anything anymore? Froggy has joined my TB but hasn't said anything about it yet (though besides inviting her I haven't really asked her yet). I'll invite Absy and Poe, too. That doesn't sound desperate and pleading at all. I might as well invite 4hweels and Hydra to the box, too. The other two mods are dead.
Mod edit: I know that isn't a swear word, but I don't know what the other Braingle mods will think of it so I changed it.

Froggy was great enough to help host the WTB TB so if anyone wants to join this one should allow for a lot more members. Just search for "Who's the Boss Guild". I've also suggested inviting everyone currently active in WTB games right now. Hopefully some good things will come of this.

I didn't realize we sonic was so inactive. I was just waiting it out. But he's been gone almost 2 weeks and I'm ready to play a freaking game, so here I am.
Hey, I'm sending some PMs to encourage players to jump from sonic's game to this one. Just a heads up.

The problem is when you mod a game in summer loads of people are abroad on holiday and then you have a risk of abandoning the game and getting your rating ruined. Plus, nobody wants to be stuck in a game waiting for an inactive boss.

Hello everyone. Thought I would join and help get one of the pending games get started.
LR, I haven't commented in the TB because I've been on my computer for limited periods at a time. Did something to my back and have been put on bed rest. I will try to go in and read what has been discussed and add my thoughts as well.
As to the "qwerty" game, I went in and posted a Mod comment about a week ago that those who were legit players should leave the game because it would not go forward. Now, I see the game has been abandoned.
SMILE and people will wonder what you are up to!

Well thanks to everyone who came along to help this game out. It should be fun. I'll probably be joining Hydra's game next, but do please join the Who's the Boss Guild for game updates, and put topics on your watchlist to discuss and be informed of who will host what when.
Mo. You make it sound like I threw her away. :/ She just "graduated" for now.
Since it's still summer, I thought I'd go with a spooky/mystical Japanese theme. That guy's a tengu. Though I can't decide. How do you like this other one? (The non statue one)
Edit: Ah, no problem Froggy. I think it's going along well enough. There are some active players discussing things and that's really what I had in mind. Plus, it seems to have had some effect on getting this game going, which was another reason for making it.
While multiple accounts aren't allowed and using them in a legitimate game would definitely ruin the fun, those games wouldn't start since they're just jokes in themselves not meant to go forward and just there to clog up space. They are always abandoned by the same user who does it as a continual prank. If there was a way to stop the user from modding or to delete such games then it would be better than getting them filled up in order to be cancelled, but as it is...

LR, I discussed that game with Jake and, at the moment, he has no way to actually delete a game in sign-ups but said he will work on that issue. For now, the only thing that can be done is for me to go into a game (I can post without actually joining any game) and post a message as I did in his game and to send a warning PM to that person.
If this continues, then next step would be to place a temp ban on the person responsible for all these games that will not play out. That said, the problem with a temp ban is that the user can still post with one of the multi accounts they have created. Until Jake works on this issue, the best that can be done is to go in and place a warning post so that any legitimate players that have sign-up will leave the game...

You should ban Ihmisen. But it won't have any effect because she signs in once every few months. Maybe ban from making WTBs?
Ihmisen makes WTBs then goes inactive for months and her games are never intended to start.
