Do not be concerned about voting in a majority - this is a non-elimination round, and you will not be fired as long as you solve the first challenge. Just make sure you save your vote! Failure to vote will result in mandatory elimination.
I'm sure you will all be too busy working on the game challenges to play hangman, but the link to the Roadblock page will be provided at the bottom of the starting post for each round. Remember that a new letter will be revealed as each challenge is solved - either by a game player or someone on the sidelines!
So, if you are ready, it's time to swing into action with a little Lindy Hop! Have fun!

Gizzer, I need a refresher. Once we solve each puzzle and verify our answer is correct, do we need to PM you? Are the roadblocks part of this game or just a sidetrack puzzle? Sorry for the questions, but this is my first Carmen game.
What would Scooby Doo?
What would Scooby Doo?
Yes, you should PM me when you have verified that you have the correct answer to a challenge.
The Roadblock challenge is not part of the game itself, it was given to pass the time while waiting for the game to start. You should focus on the game challenges for now.

My vote is in, and I'm already grinding my teeth over this first challenge. Tough!

The first challenge is a tricky one...I love that we're off to a challenging start! I wish I could devote more time to it, but it turns out I have to actually do the work I'm being paid to do today. No fair!
Strange. I thought you'd all find the first one to be easy! I guess that's further proof that I am a poor judge of challenge difficulty.

This one is very hard. I still can't get it. There aren't any hints, are there?

But if we can't solve the puzzle, we get fired, right? Then what's the point of the hints because the people who got it moved on? Or does each round have multiple questions?

Each round has as many challenges as you can solve. When you solve the first challenge, you get the second challenge, and so on.
You're right, if people can't solve it, then according to the rules, they will have to be fired.
I honestly didn't think anyone would need a hint for this challenge.

There is no obvious pattern that I can see. I have tried many different scenarios but none have worked. I may be overthinking it, as I tend to do that.
Giz, is the number itself the next page or do we pm you the answer and you give us the next page?

The answer (ie the number) is the next page.

I may be out of this one early, as I am completely stuck on this challenge and my available time to devote to braingle is dwindling for this round.
Maybe a beer will get my puzzle-solving juices flowing.....

Ah, I think I solved this one. I'll be back in a minute to see if it was correct.
-Nope, I was wrong.
-- Ah, I think I found the answer to the series. Gizzer asks for the final number in the series. Because the numbers keep increasing, we can assume the the final number would be infinity. Too bad that was the wrong answer.

**Wonders how she can use that in a future challenge.**
On a completely unrelated topic, I've been receiving calls from phone number 123-456-7890 for a couple of weeks now, and ignoring them. Tonight they switched their number to 512-345-6789. *Sigh*

Well, I've cast my vote, but I'm getting nowhere with this challenge. I suspect I won't be in this game very long! Oh well, back to the challenge, and hope for a flash of inspiration.
Noooo idea. My best option is to go with random numbers and hope one works out.
I did that.

Thank you.
Thank you.

Gizzer, I don't think I'll be able to solve this by the round ends, is that alright? My local internet is starting maintenance tomorrow and they said it should last until the afternoon.

I'm sorry, Trill, but you have had opportunity today to work on the challenge, and still have time left before "tomorrow" to work on it. I cannot make an exception for you because you will not have the full round to work on the challenge, as that is basically true for everyone, for various reasons. Just do the best you can with the time you have left.
Giz, if we absolutely can't get the challenge, what should we do then, I'm a bit lost...
Anyone who absolutely can't get the challenge before the end of the first round will have to be fired. I will really feel bad about that, because there are a lot of players still in that situation, and I really didn't expect that.
If you don't want that to happen then you have 2 options:
1) Try again using a different approach.
2) Ask for help from someone who has solved the challenge.

OK, folks, I have got to log off and go to bed before someone else sends me a PM.
Wow, I get to vote for Smeraldina without a reason for once!
Livin' that mom-life...

I haven't noticed that that ever stops anyone else....
This is a really tough one. None of my logic worked on this sequence. Tried googling but of no use.

Good morning everyone. You've been busy; I have 8 new private messages in my box.
Hey dina, this is the 2nd game that I haven't voted for you in the first round!
Good morning Giz. I think you may have stumped many of us with your challenges already. I did the same as V_Bapat and found some interesting ideas, but none have worked.

LOL! Oh, that was a good one.
EDITING my post out, because I realized in joking around I was giving away an answer. Sorry, Gizzer.

It seems you caught it before I saw it, Smeraldina.
Maybe you can share the joke later.

I voted but didn't get the answer yet. Still trying to get my overworked brain to figure it out. Sigh...Evil Genius I tell you!

Time's up folks!
I am pleased to report that everyone voted as requested. However, there are 2 players who did not solve the first challenge.
I would like to stress once again that players NOT discuss the number of challenges that they have solved.
There are a number of people who indicated in this round that they had not solved the first challenge. Fortunately, many of those players later solved it. Some did not.
For the record, folks, brainster got in under the wire and is very lucky she did.
All players must realize that, if you publicly declare that you are in last place or do not meet the conditions to continue to the next round, I will have to fire you, even if you are in an alliance.

Doesn't look like anyone has reported solving the second one

Funny...we posted that at the same moment.
Piney, I'll take that straightjacket. I have pulled out so much hair I will be bald soon. I know they say married couples tend to look alike after a few years of marriage but I thought I had many more to go before that happened.
