Things are going well inside the Golden Rose so far. Things moved on as usual with the day activities, and the nights seemed to be longer and longer as time passed.
As Phrebh slept, the Vampire Lord sent in his minions to feast. There was no need to let a good meal go to waste. Such a bad thing to do is to be wasteful and refuse a good meal would be inconsiderate.
Jpaw and Siscoderaden were trying to find the area that the Vampire Lord was staying in. They were able to figure out that the Vampire Lord was in the basement, but they ran into some trouble. While making their way down, they had ran into Darren, who immediately attacked them, knowing that they was out to hurt his master.
The fight broke out and Siscoderaden sliced, and cut, and Darren's claws and fangs came out and gnashed into the flesh causing blood to flow. The sweet smell of the blood drew some of the others, and they came running to help, and Siscoderaden was overcame by them and died.
While the fight busted out, jpaw ran past them and was able to get a little farther in hopes he could find the Vampire Lord and rid the world of his ways. Jpaw ran right into a dark room with no lights, and when he turned to see which room he was in, while trying to light a stake, he was grabbed and bite by the Vampire Lord. The food had come to him; he loved the service of the hunters.
--
The stranger watched outside the tavern during the night, as he could see what was going on, and could tell that one of the hunters was a sleeper when they died, and the other two fought bravely and with honor.
'Find the Vampire Lord quickly hunters, or you may be hunting me next if you do not find him soon.' The stranger's thoughts went from one to another as he could sense the blood of the fallen. His hopes of becoming human again still has not left, there was still time.
Note: Phrebh is a sleeper.
Made your bed, now lay in it....But you can always add a bedside table, change the sheets, take out the trash...it doesn't have to stay the same unless you want it to.

From last round:
Siscoderaden > kaykay

Looks like we know kaykay is cleared. AND our boss is logic savvy enough to know to fire two in a row, not random. Unfortunately, I think thats all of us here, so that doesn't help much.

Sadly, we already knew kaykay was cleared, so we still have no new information.
Based on logins, zjmyslin looks cleared, too, but then, he was already cleared as well. Not a lot to go on. And, the psych answer just tells us that people think the VL is smart; heh, I think that's probably pretty much true of anyone who spends time on a puzzle and games site like Braingle.

OK guys, we've went through several rounds without forming a majority, and because of that (and the number of sleepers), we've actually learned very little through the voting so far. It's about time that we start working together, and buck up and stand behind one fiend, and go stake them in the heart.
After looking back over all the clues, I've came to what I feel is the proper conclusion of whom the Vampire Lord is:
Smeraldina
Why you ask?
Let's look at her posts:
Day 1: She posts, "Oh. I better vote now, so I don't forget to vote later." But then she logs in and posts several more times in the day -- which doesn't indicate that she was forgetting anything. Only that she was anxious to see what people were saying about her.
Day 3: Same situation. She posts, "I better vote now, since I'm going to be at work." But then she gets an unexpected break at work just to check in? And then another break a few hours later?
Seems like ABS to me. Antsy Boss Syndrome.
Then, notice yesterday how she tried to put the blame on a new player? Look at the list of new players left in this game -- even as of yesterday. Looks like that would be a majority of... ME! Everyone else has been in this game before, but this is my first game.
Since I know I'm not the boss, then one has to wonder exactly WHY she'd go to all the trouble to make it seem like the boss is so inexperienced. Honestly, if you guys think I'm the boss, please form a majority and remove me from the suspect list. Once I'm cleared from suspicion, it'll just make Dina's deviousness more obvious next round.
Also, take a look at who we lost last round:
Jpaw... Who started with a vote against Dina, but then changed it. Kind of makes sense that the boss would get rid of him, if he's already thinking of voting for her, doesn't it?
And heck, even take a look at the posts before me. Already Dina has posted twice and the round has just started. Once more, it just goes to show the Antsy Boss Syndrome in action.
*************************
The clues we've gotten so far aren't all that useful, but it still seems to me that the question about the food might be something useful. The specificity of the food seems to me to point to someone who REALLY likes food, and cooking, and has an interest in the culinary arts. Would anyone care to guess who happened to form their own cooking talkbox?
Perhaps a small clue, posted from the Entertainment Forum, Hells Kitchen might help:
Sounds to me like she even fits the bill for being someone who would be so specific on their favorite food.
************************
So, with all that said, I'm placing my stake where my mouth is, and I'm going to go and try and find where she has her coffin hidden at and get her before she can get me!
Smeraldina, you have my vote!

Fair enough. Since you don't know me so much and haven't been involved in a game with me in the last few weeks, I can see how my actions might label me as an "antsy boss".
Those who know me, though, know that my schedule has been really unpredictable these last few weeks. As it happens, I had down time yesterday when I got to work that I really wasn't expecting to have. Nice when that happens. More often this past month, it's been the other way around--I essentially had to drop out of a WTB and most of my chess and checkers games in the past couple of weeks because I thought I would have time to play, but didn't. So, if I'm antsy, it's because I don't want to become branded as one of those people who signs up for games and doesn't show up to play. Which, frankly, I kinda have been lately.
Also, those who know me and have played with me know that how much I post or don't post depends directly on how much time I have or don't have. I'm always wordy, whether or not I'm a wolf/human/boss/employee/mod.
EDIT TO ADD: Posting during the day just means that I have access to a computer during the day today. It's pretty much feast or famine with me. If that means I'm the VL...well, then there are a lot of VLs on Braingle!

Heee! That's right, I did. It was one of my first adventures in the TB area; it folded pretty quickly. Good catch! I have to say, though, as an Amerasian, my favorite foods are all Asian foods: sushi, dim sum, and a lot of stuff that you guys will frankly think is really gross. I tend to be more about rice dishes than noodle dishes (again, back to my Japanese heritage), and I wouldn't say Italian food is my favorite.
Having said all that (like I say, I'm big with the talky-talky), you're certainly welcome to vote for me. Happily, since this is WTB and not TWG, I'm not going to get eliminated or anything if you vote for me.
(PS. I kinda think if I were the Boss, I would be smarter than to fire jpaw, since his death after switching his vote would totally point to me. I hope my playing and modding up to this point has shown me to be a little smarter that that, at least!)

Steve, I like the work you have put into that, but I see some flaws in your argeument. I always fish vote as soon as the round starts, before even coming into the game. Why? Because I have been known to come in, make posts, converse, even state a vote, but then forget to actually vote. I have always managed to catch this before the round ends, but I've made it a pattern to do so. Why? Self preservation. The only way to guarentee getting fired in this game is to not vote.
As for Dina and your ABS (which, btw, I really laughed at that), I can back her up that she has been rather busy the past few weeks, thus the reason I was so excited to play with her in this game! And, as she said, she is sometimes a bit wordy, but thats why I love her so much
Your find on the cooking TB was a great catch! I'm not convinced that makes Dina the boss, but great work.
Now, my vote? I would be willing to go into a majority this round if I see some evidence pointing toward someone... I'll get back to you on that. For now, my fish vote went towards bRIN again.

Well, we have to vote for someone, and I'm going with Smeraldina. Not because I think she's the VL necessarily, but because Steve did have some good reasons, and I'd like to see her cleared. Unless of course someone comes up with a better majority. I was going to vote for bRIN, but mocha beat me to it, and she doesn't seem to want to be in a majority just yet, so I'll leave it for now. I'm outta here for a few hours. Hopefully I'll get to get back on before the round is over.
I'm going with bRIN again. It won't be a majority this time and I still think she's the one and I think smeraldina may be the rat...
"As within, so without. As above, so below."
"As within, so without. As above, so below."
So, with Dream voting with me, we at least have a majority starting. At least it'll tell us something this round.
So she can't be the boss, because I'm too good at seeing patterns in things others might miss? /pout
Well, if you look, her post in the Hell's Kitchen topic was all the way down on the 4th page of the entertainment forum, and even then, in the middle of the second page of the topic itself. She'd posted, advertising her talkbox on Jul 31, 2007 -- almost a year ago -- and it's folded since then.
I honestly just think she forgot all about it, or else she assumed that it would just be forgotten and lost.
I personally don't think she's the rat. A rat would tend to point suspicion at someone else to toss the shadow off the boss. She's posted a few ideas, but none of which say, "I think XXX is it". To my way of thinking, she's playing it much more smoothly -- putting general ideas out there that say, "Well, all this is useless. Don't look at any of the clues we've been given so far." She hasn't really tried to shift our focus on to any other hunter as of yet -- just away from her.
Take her arguments that she posted last round for an example:
Notice -- no indication of who she might actually blame here, but it is a line of reasoning that clears her since she's not inexperienced.
Same thing here. No indication of whom she might think fits the bill, but once again her statement seems to be a general form of, "It could be anyone but me. I'm too good to do that."
If she is the boss, it makes sense that she wouldn't put anyone out there for us to unite against. The longer our votes stay fragmented, the more rounds she has to pick us off slowly and increase her chance to win.
And the boss has a real good chance to win in this game...
10 sleepers gone, and only 2 actual hunters voted off. Since the rat doesn't get a vote, it's impossible for the rat to be a sleeper. That means there were only 2 players who could have possibly been the rat removed from the game so far...
Which isn't that statistically likely. We've got the boss out there, and the rat, and only 6 hunters left...
If we don't form a majority and stake the Lord in the heart this time, there's not going to be a whole lot of rounds left for us to have a chance to do it with after this one, or the next one...

Take her arguments that she posted last round for an example:
I think an experienced boss would not have been so quick to send out the memo for round two.By sending it out so quickly, the Boss effectively cleared two people. As a frequent mod, I was surprised that the Boss didn't wait a bit to see if those three folks would log on before doing the memo. There was no real rush...as mocha pointed out, the round ended and the memo went out on the same day. The Boss had plenty of time. Most experienced bosses I know would have delayed until everyone had signed in. I remember on one occasion, a savvy boss waited as long as he could, posted the memo, and then asked me to wait a little longer to see if the last absent player might log in. So, the speedy memo posting speaks to me more of inexperience rather than experience and mastery.
Notice -- no indication of who she might actually blame here, but it is a line of reasoning that clears her since she's not inexperienced.
2. That first answer was really, really specific, and had the potential of really winnowing down the candidate list. I could be wrong on this, but I think an experienced player could have chosen a much broader, less specific answer, like "pasta". It could also be that the VL is someone who is a stickler for the truth, and felt like he/she had to be specific to be truthful. So, maybe we're looking for a less experienced player/boss who likes to be as truthful as possible.

Guys, I'm telling you I"m not the boss nor am I the rat, I'll go with the vote for smeraldina...it makes sense to me...but Mocha is on my list if I'm fired.
Your love gave me memories too beautiful to forget.

Ok, there is enough going with Dina, I'm in. Voting for Dina.

Now shouldn't only four of us vote for Dina to clear her? Because if she isn't the boss, it will minimize the mandatory firings. How about KayKay, Steve, mocha, and I vote for her. Everyone else should just fish vote so we have some people gauranteed to move on.

And no matter what, we'd have people guaranteed to move on. The boss can't fire everyone off the list -- just a certain number based on what round is it.

But, wouldn't Zj know that already, since he's an experienced player? Seems like a nice trick that a rat would do to try and clear the boss...
3 of us run out to stake the vampire lord, and the spy claims to come along to help us. When we fail to murder the vampire, then that would "prove" that our suspicions were wrong -- since a 50% vote didn't kill him.

To me, it seems like if Zj is the rat, then he just confirmed everything I've been saying.
If we're going to form a majority, then lets do it right. We need over 51% to kill the boss, so let's all gather up our stakes and go teach this vampire a lesson or two!
************************
And of course, if I'm wrong (which really, really seems unlikely to me now), then we'll just lose a few hunters (one of which would probably be myself, since I've managed to talk everyone into an organized majority), and then the rest of you can sort out where I messed up and get the right Lord of Night.
************************
By suggesting that we only go 4 against one person, that seems to be to be a very good way for the boss to escape the hunt. If any of those 4 are the rat (or even the boss), a true killing majority can't be formed.

Kaykay hasn't said she was going to vote for Dina yet. Kaykay was voting for ME to be the boss.
Unless she comes back and changes her vote, there's no way that we could get a 4 person majority with the names Zj provided!
I tell ya, I smells a rat!!

I'm sorry if I offended you Steve . I really am not totally convinced at any one person at the moment, still tryin to get a few more clues before I stick with a certain person.
If I am fired next round, they will know who to vote for though .
It just seemed like too much evidence, like fabricated. I'm not saying you're making this up, I don't think anyone in this game is that stupid (or maybe that smart), I'm just saving my vote for when I think it counts.
As for the majority idea, I don't exactly want to be in a majority. I don't care if I don't win (if Dina is the boss) but I'll be happy if I didn't do it and those people were gone.
It's depressing that I'm cleared for the round. I like it when the suspicion is on me .

kaykay, you should actually avoid majority. As a cleared player, you are more helpful alive than being fired.

Wow. Lots to read since I went to work. I love active games, even when I'm being targeted. On the one hand, cool for me, because a majority for me means that 1) I'm not getting fired and 2) I'm going to be cleared after this round. So, I probably should just let it be, and enjoy being cleared in the next round.
But hey, when have I ever been able to keep my big mouth shut?
I would love to be cleared, but I feel kinda bad for anyone getting fired (bitten?) because they jumped on the "Vote for Dina" bandwagon. It looks like a few folks have their minds made up already, and if you do really think that I'm the Boss, then you should totally go with your gut. But, if you're not sure, or you're going along for the sake of clearing someone, bear in mind that voting in a majority does put you on a firing list. So, when you join a majority, be sure that you're totally okay with being fired if it turns out that Steve is wrong and I'm not the Vampire Lord. After all, a few of you have commented that it seems to pat, or that his logic isn't totally right when it comes to me.
I can see where Steve is coming from, and it's great logic if you don't know me. If you do know me, then a good chunk of his logic regarding me is just not right. This is one of those times where I'm sad jpaw is not in the game anymore--as the player who probably knows just about the most about me, he could easily debunk some of this logic. I've already addressed most of it in my previous posts. Basically, most of Steve's logic seems to depend on this idea that I'm playing this way because I'm antsy and because I'm the boss. Once you take that away, there's really not much else worth staking the game on.
I do want to comment on one of Steve's newer points, though. He goes back a couple times to point out that I hadn't "blamed" anyone specific, and that I've given "no indication" of who I think is the Boss. He's right. I haven't. For that matter, neither have several other players. However, I disagree with Steve's reasoning that this somehow points to me being the VL. All it really proves is that I didn't know who to point a finger at. Assuming anything else, that's a pretty dangerous leap of logic, since at this point it applies to almost everyone EXCEPT Steve, and, I guess anyone who suggested bRIN.
Again, if you feel strongly that I'm the VL, you should go with it, and hooray for me because I'll be cleared. But be sure that it is what you really think. I just don't think that we've got enough information one way or the other to jump into a majority right now.
So, once again, a novella out of Smeraldina. But hey, I gotta be me. 'Night, folks!

Uhh...in the midst of all this, I've lost track of the voting list. I can't imagine the VL would fire me, since I make such a great fall guy. So, I'm going to vote for dream.
Dina, you are not helping me with my decision to vote for you. I am totally ok with being fired. But... I also see the flaws in the logic as I posted above. But then, dina, you are *really* good, and it would be nice to know 100% that you are not the boss. So, unless something comes to me in my sleep, I'm going to stick with it. *whew* I think I've talked myself back into my vote. I'll see you all in the morning.

So zj, are you saying you're voting for dina??
edit: Ok, so there are 8 of us left, including the VL and rat. Rat can't be a sleeper and wouldn't have been on the optional firing list cuz there hasn't been a majority for anyone. That means we have 6 voters. We need 4 of those votes to catch the VL. If zj is indeed the rat, then we can't count that vote. If we only have 3 votes (from hunters) we won't catch the VL. BUT, we can still clear dina if she's innocent as someone who voted for her should be fired. Taking into consideration that everyone who can vote, does so. If we have anymore sleepers then we are still right here where we started.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm counting 4 (possibly 5) votes for dina: myself, steve, bRIN and mocha (and maybe zj). We could use 1 more vote just to be on the safe side, but I can understand kaykay's reluctance to be in a majority. She has already been cleared and would be eay fodder for the VL.
edited again: I missed bRIN's vote.
